BMW has launched an internet shop on eBay UK which is selling parts and accessories direct to consumers for the first time. The German carmaker hopes it can accelerate sales.

Previously, BMW owners wanting to purchase genuine parts, such as brake discs and car care products, had to place orders through a dealership, but now they can buy them at BMW Direct on the popular auction website.

While BMW is the first carmaker to open a store on eBay UK, more than 100 high-street retailers use the site as an additional sales channel. More here

Go direct to the store

BMW Direct Store items - Get great deals on items on eBay.co.uk Shops!

This is quite cool.

Though it would be incredible if they listed parts from discontinued models too, as in Europe, USA, etc - Ebay is the first place that car owners go to when they want to find parts for their old car.

Either which way, removing the dealership step along the way saves BMW owners a bucket load of time, coordination, and back and forth. As it says, BMW_direct !

Like it! :thumbs up

Why does the title say "old BMW"? The catalogue has parts for new cars as well.

I thought that I read it was for older cars. BMW normally start slashing parts prices of older cars to keep them running. Title changed accordingly

Thank you Ajmat! clap:
This is fantastic. :thumbs up

I have just acquired a 5 and I was on the look out for something like this for my new old baby.

Thanks for the link ! Gonna be very useful. Especially for folks without BSI, the part prices like the brakepads etc are less than a third of the price here !

300 pounds for two rear DVD screens ! BMW charges over a lakh for those here.

Humm, I found it too good to be true. DVD Unit for 300 GBP and then I read the terms and conditions.

Mahindra & Maruti should learn form this.

today both manufacturers have stopped selling OE parts in dealerships at least in maharashtra.

if you want a OE part, you have to make the job card & have to pay the standard labour charges related to the OE part's fitment.

this :Frustrati:Frustrati.

CCI probes carmakers on parts, servicing - Times Of India

With the CCI notice doing rounds, I hope things would change. I had owned a Ford and it was not possible for me to get even a clip as a parts order. Even to buy a Wheel Cap from Harpreet Ford, I had to take a booking, queue up, waste half a day on paperwork before a Ford Technician clicked the wheel cap into place. :(

The way Automobile workshops are overloaded these days and the number of days you need to book your repairs in advance this Jobcard only treatment is too harsh and unjustified.

Hope eBay is the way to go in India as well.

@GTO, @President, @Sahil,

I've been looking around for some suggestions for reliable BMW part shops in Mumbai.

Have been going through hundreds of threads, and I thought I had finally hit the jackpot, but as pointed out earlier, UK delivery only. Arrgh!

I got in touch with this person via email: Abraham Kurien, of Kochi and his email i.d. is germancarpitstop@gmail.com

"1)I can accept cheques but order will be placed only after the cheque clears. I would prefer bank transfer or cash (if you have some one in KOCHI, Kerala. Sorry I cant accept credit cards. 2)Price I quote includes shipping+all duty. (generally its 35%)
3)Used parts can be sourced subject to availability.
4)Usually takes 2-4 weeks for shipping."

Has any one used him?

I'm sure there is a reliable shop in Mumbai. Any one else driving E30/E28/E36 and trying to maintain them in Mumbai?
The Mumbai Directory didn't list anything either.

Have you looked around Opera House?

There are at least a dozen shops there that specialize in old Merc / Audi / BMW parts. I am more familiar with the Merc shops, so can't reccommend one for a BMW. Check out this list :

From the outside, all the Opera House shops look the same. Since it may well become a restoration project, looking for a recommended/trustworthy chap, as I am going to be working with a very tight budget. Can't afford to make mistakes :)

My earlier experience with a renowned shop/garage/restorer in the garage lane, Juhu has been iffy. Felt that the owner was too busy chasing big projects and Page 3 news. At other times he was really helpful. So not very confident about going back there.

Yes, I have availed the services of Mr.Abraham for sourcing parts of my Skoda Laura DSG - I have talked at length to him - he is quite a knowledgeable chap and he sourced me all the parts that I was looking for, including the original VW timing belt kit for the PD engine and a new DSG gear lever (my old one was faded).

I also got a parking brake switch for my friend's BMW X6 from him.

I would recommend him.

Thanks Games,

If eBay fails, I know where to go. He may have alternative sources.
