Mod Note: Team-BHP's Santa Fe Review has been uploaded at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the review thread. Thanks!
AutoBILD reports that seven years after its debut, the Santa Fe will get a successor named ix45 in March 2013. The design language of this seven-seater will be based on current models like the i45 and Avante which will also have more powerful four cylinder engines.
Hyundai claims that it will shed the Santa Fe name for the ix45 badge.
GMotors.co.uk has presented a spy pic of a large SUV which it claims is the successor to the “mid-size” SUV Santa Fe.
Local assembly of the Santa Fe will not bring down prices at the moment but the successor could be a segment champion with better quality, refreshed interiors, redesigned exterior and a lower price.
It looks like a hatch back to me !! Something like a bigger, longer i20 ! No street presence? Or is it the angle of the pics or my eyes?? :Frustrati

The new "fluidic" ix45 (Santa Fe) might hit Indian shores in 2013, and might come in with a starting price tag of Rs.22 lakh onwards. |
- Profile close to X1
- At 22 lacs its too close to X1 and Audi's upcoming market offering in the same category
- Build quality looks simpley superb . Great panel shut lines.
- I am not a big fan of this Korean Giant but am afraid to say this is one company with tons of focus in below 20lac category.
- It has the service level / product quality to be the segment leader.
- If they work on a better logo from the slanting H which reminds everything in China Land. A good branding excercise with the right set of marketing campaigns can really put Honda/Toyota/Fiat/GM/Ford in big trouble.
This would be very nice indeed.
maybe then the current gen Santa Fe prices will fall and some will turn up in the used market place at nice prices.
even today a 4 year- 5 year old Tucson still commands a reasonable value in the used marketplace. For a vehicle which cost 18.5 on road Bangalore Brand New in 2007, an used example retails at about 50% of that value now, 4-5 years later. thats speaks pretty solidly about the value perception of this vehicle.
Hyundai vehicles are reliable and packed solid with value and features that are otherwise available only in vehicles one a half times to twice as expensive.

New Hyundai Santa Fe is expected to debut in New York Auto Show scheduled to begin in April – 2012. In India Hyundai Santa Fe has been introduced in 2010 and enjoys a decent market share. Company assembles the vehicle in their Chennai plant from CKD kits brought from their overseas plant. We think after the global debut, Hyundai may bring new Santa Fe to our market as well. The launch may happen by end of this year or early next year. This is yet to be confirmed by Hyundai India.

The front grill design reminds me of the Koleos.

Front looks like Renault Koleos, and rear looks like Audi Q(x) IMO! :Frustrati
But overall, not a bad design. However - the rising roofline these days is atrocious! If its a seven seater - god help the people sitting at the back!

Coming soon: All- new Hyundai Santa Fe| Zigwheels.com
Scheduled for a world premiere at the New York International Auto Show early April, the all-new Hyundai Santa Fe hints the future SUV avatar's from the Korean car maker.
Hyundai recently revealed teaser images of the new third-generation Santa Fe's exterior. The new Santa Fe its own design concept called 'Storm edge', while taking cues from the Korean car maker's new 'fluidic design' language.
This unibody crossover SUV platform is now expected to feature many substantial changes not only in design but also in terms of the cutting-edge technology, good fuel economy and practical use of space.
Completing its aggressive look, which we think is better than its predecessor are the sophisticated and refined lines in harmony with bold and voluminous surfaces. The design also adopts the hexagonal grille–a key design cue of the Hyundai family look, a two-tone voluminous bottom car body, and wider front and rear bumpers.
A new extended version will also be offered in the US, most likely to replace the current Hyundai Veracruz featuring seven-seat configuration along with a redesigned engine available in both manual and automatic transmissions.
Dating back to its debut in the year 2000, the new Hyundai Santa Fe has clocked worldwide sales of over 2.56 million units (Korea: 680,000; Overseas: 1.95 million) till now. However, in India, the Santa Fe hasn't quite managed to replicate its overseas success. Going by first impressions, the new model does look promising enough to change the SUVs fortunes when it launches in the country some time towards the end of 2012.
The front grill actually reminds me more of the upcoming Honda CRV and the side profile and Audi Q5 perhaps. Nonetheless, if this design makes it to the roads, this one's a sure hit!

Agree with you about the design resemblance there.
However, It wouldn't quite be a runaway success if they price it in the X1, Q3 category.

The 2WD version returns 47.9 mpg UK (39.9 mpg US or 5.9 lt/100km) on the combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 155g/km.
The 4WD manual gearbox Santa Fe has a combined fuel consumption figure of 46.3mpg UK (38.5 mpg US or 6.1 lt/100km) and 159g/km of CO2, while the automatic delivers 41.5mpg UK and 178g/km.
Hyundai offers the new SUV with three trim grades beginning with the entry-level Style that includes, 18-inch alloys, reverse parking sensors, daytime running lights, self-leveling suspension (seven-seat only), air conditioning, Bluetooth with voice recognition, multi-function steering wheel, ESP, Hill Start Assist, Vehicle Stability Management, Trailer Stability Assist and seven airbags.
