Re: Next-Gen Hyundai i30 - Revealed ahead of Frankfurt!

Love the design and I want one! I love the new design direction Hyundai is taking. One iteration after another, they're blowing my mind away! Kudos to the designers! A far cry from the boring Toyotas.

Very impressive, minus chrome.

Looks like the car is following the design philosophy of all new Hyundais. Too many curves but it's helping them sell.

Actually, i30 is Elentra without a boot. It is based on Elentra/Avante platform.

Verna/Accent are sold with still sold as Accent or Verna depending on the market and haven't moved to the numerical i badging yet. It doesn't look like they would move either. Since their cars are numbered chronologically on the class and they already have i20, i30 and i40. I remember reading somewhere that after the current platform, i20 will be positioned in that slot.

Re: Next-Gen Hyundai i30 - Revealed ahead of Frankfurt!

I quite like this car and there are no surprises here. Ever since the 'Fluidic Sculpture' design philosophy came into existence, all the models from Hyundai one after the other have been extremely good-looking and stylish. But my only grouse are these grilles. The grille in i10 and Verna is good, but I can't digest the ones in Sonata, Azera, Genesis and now this. I seriously doubt Hyundai will ever get their grilles right.

Apart from that, I would say that this is a very good redesign of a successful product. Remember, it was the i30 which brought in a new era for Hyundai. It was the brand's first car with the alphanumeric name, it was the first car by Hyundai designed exclusively for Europe and it was the first car from Hyundai that met with considerable success in Europe. And I am sure that this new i30 is going to carry over that legacy. There seems to be none stopping this Hyundai-Kia juggernaut globally.

I too don't like those too many curves and lines on the body.

BUT, the ALLOYS are looking AWESOME !!

Thank you!

I had some trouble figuring which goes where. I know that the i20, is nothing but a new Getz. It's just that Hyundai has killed the Getz name and gone numerical. The i30, then is the Elantra without a boot. But that leaves the Accent/Verna in the middle.

It might get a bit confusing for people trying to figure out the line-up.

Re: Next-Gen Hyundai i30 - Revealed ahead of Frankfurt!

I really liked it. Everything except the front looks great. The front is too crowded imho. Somehow looks like the guy who did the Verna transform had a say in this design as well. Those fins are unnecessary and adds clutter.

Ten minutes with Photoshop and I have it looking the way I want! If only it was this easy in real life.

I know it looks a bit like the Punto, but I like the Punto

Well done indeed. A much better looking design, though I still think its too cluttered.

Even with these improvements, its still a long long way from the simple elegance and timelessness of the Punto's shape. The Punto really shows that it has been penned by the "Car Designer of the Century", Giorgetto Giugiaro.

Attaching a few pics of the 2012 Punto for reference.

Liked the refreshing design except for the chrome thing on the grill. Head lamp, fogs, rear end and the wheels looks awesome

Punto's design is a classic, its timeless... (I own a punto for the same reason!)

But hyundais follow a different sense of design. Instead of being laid back, they have this in-your-face, modern & radical shapes. I like both. Atleast they are better than the boring toyotas.

Re: Next-Gen Hyundai i30 - Revealed ahead of Frankfurt!

I like the design quite a bit. Even the front works for me, provided that the horizontal slats in the grille are removed and the grill opening is slightly reduced laterally. Like its rear completely.

Punto? That looks more like the Jaguar XK-R S, actually!

Don't you think?

Sorry for going OT.

Lol, that's cause that's where majority of the bumper was chopped from. But on the i30, the package gets a punto-ish look. Hence the comparison.
