Their new website was ON today during the day for 2 hours detailing the New Ambition and Elegance trim. As soon as I talked to my dealer, within 1 hour it was back to the previous one. Maybe because they wanted to clear the stocks of the previous version before launching this one.

Zigwheels confirms the report and it almost seems like they copied your post from our forum. Refer to the highlighted part.

Skoda to launch new Superb base variant| Zigwheels.com

Skoda is expected to launch a new stripped-down base version of the Superb during the third week of April 2012. To be christened Superb Ambition, the new variant will likely sport the same 1.8 litre TSI turbocharged petrol and 2.0 TDi diesel engines as in the existing model. The petrol mill will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox while the diesel will come with the trusted six-speed dual-clutch gearbox. What will perhaps be excluded are some of the frills that come with the current base model. So, the Ambition may miss out on gadgetry like bi-xenon headlamps, electric sunroof, touchscreen system on centre console, Bluetooth function, ESP, hill hold and descent functions. Skoda is unlikely to compromise on safety, so expect driver and front passenger airbags, anti-lock braking system with EBD and a basic air-conditioning unit to stay put.

The 1.8 TSI turbocharged petrol model will churn out 160PS of power and 250Nm of torque while the 2.0 TDi oil burner will put out 140PS peak power and 320Nm of torque. The Superb Ambition version is expected to be Rs.1.5 lakh lighter on the pocket compared to the current 1.8 litre TSI Manual ‘Elegance’ trim that is priced at Rs.19.60 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. While it may not appeal much to well-heeled customers looking at a feature-rich premium sedan, if priced correctly it will offer tremendous value and snob value.

Owned by the Volkswagen group, Skoda’s sales for March 2012 reached 4,822 units growing 60 percent in the domestic market. With the new cheaper Superb, the Czech maker has ‘Ambitions’ to eye an even bigger pie of the market!

2013 Skoda Superb (Skoda Superb facelift spy pics)

It seems that the Superb is in for a mid-cycle facelift with minor updates to the headlights, bigger grill & changes in front bumper. At the rear, the tail lamps are sharper with LED. There could be new alloy wheels as well.

Refer ACI report on the same:

The Superb gets minor sheet-metal changes up front, the headlights are more angular and the bumpers are re-profiled. The grille appears bigger and more angular, and resembles the one on Skoda’s MissionL concept. The bigger update is to the rear end, where the tail-lamps are all-new and much sharper. They now look more in line with current-generation VW and Audi models, and could also contain LED elements.

The rear looks like it's been inspired by the Maserati. From what I can see it looks much better than the existing car. Atleast from the rear.

Agreed. The rear has been its sore point, looks-wise, and this looks much better. Let's hope these pics are genuine!

That is truly what it will look like. Its got the new Skoda Face and even in the camouflaged images one can make out that the face of the car will resemble the new Skoda corporate look.

Overall i feel this will give the Superb a new lease of life and they have really done a good job with the facelift. The odd ball dimensions and side profile of the Superb although remain its weakness and strength (for the space).

Re: SCOOP: Skoda Superb Facelift

Now why do I get the feeling that the sheet metals getting thinner and thinner and the plastic bumpers are moving higher and higher up. Any higher and the cars can be entirely made out of plastic with just a thin sheet metal roof.

Every panel is now slightly curved, which I presume is for strengthening purposes considering the lighter panels.

The components inside though are the same old ultra-reliable VW-family stuff I presume.

Re: SCOOP: Skoda Superb Facelift

That, basically looks like an integration of the facelifted Superb's front and the older gen Superb's boot.
Have my own doubts if this is what the newer version of the Superb will look like.

Re: SCOOP: Skoda Superb Facelift

Some websites (including Autocar India) expect this to launch in 'Early 2013' in India. But interestingly, no official pics yet despite a launch date that is supposed to be only 3 - 4 months away. I am going to be optimistic and wait for the launch. Any update is appreciated !
