But once we ignore his ethical sense, that is a hell of a collection. Very fine taste indeed.

I don't really see any kind of serious taste...serious greed, yes.
Tsk tsk, This coming from gentleman whose signature reads "The difference between the men and the boys....................is the speed of their toys."

Huh? what does this have to do with that. This one makes even less sense.

Re: No Ordinary Seizure - Only 11 Supercars

That's an awesome collection, got to see what happens to the cars next. Also shows how well the police handled the cars unlike here in Bangalore. Brabus hopefully you will be providing us with regular updates as to what happened with those cars.
Hopefully they auction it off instead of letting them gather dust due to various bureaucratic process and procedures.

From what I read, these are seized based on charges of misuse of stae funds. What is happening in the world is that governments want no hand in any dirty money being spent or invested in their countries. most probably if Mr Bongo canot prove legitimate sources of the funds, the cars will be auctioned off and money held in a temporary fund until a proper democratic government is appointed

In the meanwhile, European governments are having a cashflow problem........

Sigh that means the cars would be sitting/gathering dust till...well i give up.
Why would the automobile companies not be held responsible for this act as well? Just like how US has a list of embargo countries where they do not allow the sales of simple consumer goods like ex: Computers, Can't the EU (All these cars have their manufactures based out in Europe. ) take a stance similarly? This ways we can nip it in the bud rather than just going around the circus.

PS: Am not a politico but just felt like expressing my political views. Hopefully it is taken in good taste

Totally agree to what you said here, its just pure play look-i-have-got-the-money billboard. Interesting to see an Enzo and One-77 in the list, isn't it like these companies pick you to be the buyer and not the normal way around. So that could mean he was chosen one and yet this seizure !!

Re: No Ordinary Seizure - Only 11 Supercars

Hi all,
Forget the son of the African Dictator. Many of our Indian politicians, beaurocrats, Neera Radias industrialists who have benifitted from the corrupt politicians, beaurocrats and Neera Radias have such or even better collections.

For example our own Janardhan Reddy of Bellary Karnataka has the best collection of top class SUVs and Cars. Showing off ill gotten money has become a trend now and nobody is ashamed of it. So there is not much we can do about it but curse the system which allows them to amass so much of wealth ill gotten or otherwise.

I agree with Mpower.

I say auction these cars to the highest bidder, and use that money to feed the hungry kids in Africa!

Re: No Ordinary Seizure - Only 11 Supercars

I agree with M power totally. We shouldn't be talking about taste here.

Give this kind of money to any college going kid in India, ask them to spend this money only on cars, and you will probably find a better collection; at least not two bugatti's in a stable!

I am surprised to see not a single Lamborghini in his collection. And a +1 to Mpower and TheStig.

The Obiang Family Cars Seized in Paris

Police conducting a money-laundering probe into Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, President of Equatorial Guinea since 1979, swooped on his Paris mansion and seized 11 Super Cars. This news is from September 30th 2011 but I thought it'll be good to share it here considering the cars that were seized. His son Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue is also supposed to have an amazing collection at his Malibu Mansion in USA. He recently purchased a $380 Million Yacht. I'm always into shock and awe and my face looks like this everytime I read about the kind of wealth these guys have.

Re: No Ordinary Seizure - Only 11 Supercars

Quote:
Back in 2011, eleven supercars were seized from the President of Equatorial Guinea Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. The insane supercar collection was seized in Paris, France.
Among the cars seized by the French police were two Bugatti Veyrons, a Maserati MC12, a Porsche Carrera GT, a Ferrari Enzo, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Maybach, Aston Martin and a Ferrari 599 GTO. The supercars were seized at Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo’s Parisian residence at 42 Avenue Foch, just a stones throw away from the Arc de Triomphe. The cars were seized over investigations into the alleged theft of public funds in Equatorial Guinea back in 2011.

As you could imagine, this insane supercar collection was worth upwards of $10 million, and according to the International Business Times, that entire collection recently went under the hammer fetching just $4 million. Making that figure all the more insane is the fact that all eleven exotics have barely been driven since originally leaving their respective production facilities.
Source: http://www.gtspirit.com/2013/07/17/e...for-4-million/

11 of cars like these sold for a 'mere' $4mn? :O

The 3 Veyrons themselves would cost 3.4mn odd!

Nasty little TPLD of a TPLAC....Tin Pot Little Dictator of a Tin Pot Little African Country.
These blokes are completely evil!
Just like the nasty evil Native African revolutionary as depicted in Blood Diamond and in Casino Royale.
Such people should be tried in the International Court of Justice for crimes against humanity and hung until death in full view of the public.
Absolute scum.
