With the 207 spotted continuously road-testing around Pune and the Indian Peugeot plant coming up by 2013 (the year they tee off their launches with the 508), will India get the 208 as well, instead of the outgoing 207?

It seems like a definite possibility, because Peugeot won't want to continue with the 207 in India after phasing it out from the world market.

Rub your hands in glee, Peugeot lovers and prospective Peugeot customers. The 208 looks like a stonker!

Re: Peugeot 208, successor to 207, launched!

Radical departure from the usual Peugeot small car styling. More like a Citroen than a Peugeot. The edgy design language seems to have caught on the world over. Certainly striking, but one that needs time to get used to.

Re: Peugeot 208, successor to 207, launched!

They better keep this secret from us because the 207 is looking too outdated side by side.

If Peugeot are as serious as VW, they should launch this instead of the 207.

Some points from this article

Leaked! First Official Photos of New Peugeot 208 Supermini - Carscoop

a) Base model weighs less than 1 ton.

b) Its 7 cm shorter than the 207 meaning it fits in the sub-4m category without surgery.

c) They plan to launch it with 1l and 1.2l petrol engines in Europe
d) Launch in June'12.

C'mon Peugeot bring us the 208, may be you will be forgiven for the 309 debacle.

The two HUDs look so neat. Interiors look top class.

Reminds me of the Koreans. This 208 is a few steps backwards from the beautiful styling they have had for ages.

This 208 is a bit over the top. I prefer the new Citroen DS3 to this.

Even the 206 and 207 were good looking cars. 206 especially, Marcus Gronholm' 206 WRC was stunning.

The rear lights on the 208 looks like the human hand when trying to pinch something.

Again styled too much. Goes on to show no body does it better than Italians.

As a one time owner of a 205 (the ill fated 309 was the saloon version, killed off by PAL) I have very high regard for these. Cannot wait for the 207/208 to be launched.

SGIITK, I used to have a 309 in the UK and agree with you. Only thing is the later Pugs. after the 307 became heavy and flabby and lost the plt when it came to handling and ride

Courtesy a friend , have been invited for a "Day with Peugeot" where we would be test driving and providing feedback on 207 and 508 - I do look forward to it.

The rear light look like an oddly shaped boomerang to me, may be they got slightly inspired by the Nissan 370Z tail lights.

Re: Peugeot 208, successor to 207, launched!

Love the front mean looking grill !
Love the dash with the cool ICE !
Love the steering console, the logo is looking SUPER neat !
Love the alloys !
Not that intrigued with the fog lamps, why are manufacturers making these psuedo fog lamps which hardly add in semblance to the night visibility at all ?

What in heaven's name are those lights on the inside roof ? Stairway to Heaven or Super Duper huge sun roof ?

Lovely share guys, this could just be my next upgrade, if they launch the sedan version of the car.

Very well aligned to the new Peugeot family look. I really liked the new look.
