According to the latest vehicle registration figures, the Volkswagen Golf remains Europe’s best-selling car despite a sales decrease of 2.5 per cent in October compared to a year earlier (its sales also fell 1.8 per cent measured year-to-date). The Volkswagen Polo, with sales up by 1.2 per cent in October, regained second place while the Ford Fiesta claimed third, selling 26,553 vehicles.

VW Golf crowned European Car of the Year 2013.

The seventh-generation Golf took the award by a huge margin, receiving 414 votes. The Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ took the runners-up spot with 202 votes.
The Volvo V40 was placed third, just ahead of the Ford B-Max and Hyundai i30. The Mercedes A-class was ranked fifth, followed by the Renault Clio, Peugeot 208 and Hyundai i30.

Volkswagen Golf loses its crown as the top-selling car in Europe in February

The Volkswagen Golf was dethroned by the Renault Clio as the top-selling car in Europe, as the new generation hit the dealers.

This was due to Renault Clio’s new model having been available to the market for a longer period of time.

The VW Golf ( MK8) Is Europe’s (And Germany’s) Best Selling Car For 2020!

With more than 312,000 Golfs delivered across Europe, 134,000 of which in Germany, the latest generation has picked up where the Mk7 left off.



Beyond the Golf, Volkswagen dominated the sales charts in Europe. Apart from the Golf, which clinched the top spot, the Tiguan and the Passat were Germany’s second and third best selling cars through 2020.
