Cops in the state of New South Wales, Australia have finally decided on the turbo diesel BMW 5 series and Chrysler SRT8 to replace the Holden Commodores and Ford Falcons as highway patrol cars.

The new generation highway patrol cars are not only the most advanced in Australia but are equipped with world-leading technology worth more than the cost of the cars themselves.

Every highway patrol car in NSW now has automatic number plate reading technology to detect stolen cars or wanted drivers, front and rear facing cameras to capture mobile offences, as well as being equipped with tablet computers for quicker vehicle checks.

U.K police get the Skoda Kodiaq.

Skoda has expanded its emergency services vehicle range by launching a new Karoq, modified for police applications in the UK.
Dressed in a specific livery, it’s fitted with a roof-mounted LED bar, in addition to more LED signal lights built into the front screen, grille, tailgate and number plate. All of these are complemented by the 100-am three-tone siren. Police officers can partially or completely remove the rear seats to create additional load space.

Thus, the boot capacity can be increased from the standard 521 liters (18.4 cu-ft), with the rear seats in position, to 1,810 liters (63.9 cu-ft) with the seats removed. The extra space “can be specially converted to suit operational requirements”, says Skoda.

“We have worked closely with emergency services teams over the years to ensure that we are providing vehicles that are practical and can be converted to their exact requirements”, commented Skoda UK Head of Fleet, Henry Williams. “These vehicles are in constant use by life-saving teams and an integral requirement of any vehicle is its reliability, which Skoda delivers time and time again. The Karoq fits the bill in every way with outstanding handling, space, and practicality.”

The Skoda Karoq police cruiser also comes with useful driving assistance features. These include the Front Assist with City Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Monitor, Blind Spot Detect and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Also, emergency services can choose between four engine options when it comes to the Karoq: two TSI petrol units and two TDI diesels, with 115PS (113hp / 86kW) and 150PS (148hp / 110kW) in both cases. All four engines can be had with a dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission, as an option, while the most powerful diesel is available with four-wheel drive.

2020 Ford Police Interceptor Utility Is America’s Fastest ‘Cop Car’!

No specifics performance details of the car is shared yet.

While Ford didn’t go into specifics, the company said the Michigan State Police tests showed the all-wheel drive crossover had the fastest 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) and 0-100 mph (160 km/h) times as well as fastest lap and average lap times.

The 2020 Ford Police Interceptor Utility is currently available to order and the first deliveries are slated to begin next summer. It will be a vast improvement over its predecessor as the hybrid variant could save police departments around $3,500 (£2,687 / €3,039) per vehicle in annual fuel costs

But for the 2020 Explorer, am happy and excited

If I am right, it is based on the same CD6 platform as the upcoming Lincoln Aviator.

So finally, a non-German RWD (or RWD based AWD) crossover.

Dubai Police's artificial intelligence department – yes, they have such a thing in the police force - the hoverbikes will probably be used for first responder purposes, not necessarily to chase down bad guys.

The hoverbikes used in Dubai, called S3, are in fact vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) machines that look somewhat like the speeder bikes of the Star Wars Stormtroopers.

Built with a carbon fiber body, the S3 uses 12.3 kWh batteries to power the four propellers located two at the front and two at the rear for up to 40 minutes in drone mode and 25 minutes with a pilot riding it

Despite this reduced flight time and the long recharge time – 2.5 hours - Hoversurf is selling one S3 for $150,000. Production and delivery are expected to commence in 2019

Such a wonderful sight into the future, which is now already the present! When I was a kid, I had seen a similar conception in Hollywood movies. Now should we really compliment the ones who did a deep dive into future and had us introduced to these hover bikes a decade or two back or should we compliment the ones who made the conceptual elements into a real life elements or should we compliment both the sides

The difference is just so stark. Our police and law enforcement are supposed to work with limited means, drive around in non A/C cars in 45 degree heat and when time comes also put their life on the line for a pitiable official salary. Contrast that to the largess being enjoyed by those who are elected - luxury car convoys, a full fledged Boeing for foreign visits. The unfairness is built into the system.
