Re: Ultimate Cop Cars - Police cars from around the world

Europe's Police Forces Want to Remotely Stop Cars. Why? Because police chases are too dangerous, posing a huge risk to bystanders

Quote:
The plan is to create a system that can be installed in all cars sold in the European union. By cutting fuel supply to the engine, this would slow the any potentially dangerous fugitive right down. A six year trial period would prove its usability, which means that by 2020, we might not be the masters of our own automobiles.

Turns out, these guys had faked a Veyron cop car before and got busted:

This is now becoming serious...Civil Liberties Watchdog Uncovers EU Plan to Remotely Stop Cars !

Quote:
The EU is reportedly secretly developing a remote stopping device to be fitted to all cars, allowing the police to disable vehicles at the push of a button from a control room.

LAPD gets a Lamborghini Gallardo.

Couple of interesting points in this addition though;
  • Los Angeles Police didnt buy this super coupe, but was receieved as a donation from Nathalie and Travis Marg, proprietors of telecommunications contractor Light Source 1 Inc.
  • The lambo will be used exclusively for display at charity events and not for high speed chases :(

Nope that is not a real cop car. There is an aventador also somewhere in Europe with Dubai police livery

Couple of weeks back my riding friends attended a track day organized by BMW dealer in Dubai. Dubai police was also invited, they brought Suzuki GSXR 1000s and were ridden by police women on track No wonder they have Gixxers as Suzuki GSXRs are the most popular super bikes in Arab community

Some old pics from internet

Lexus Australia partnered with NSW Police to provide them two hybrid models, a 2014 GS and RX 450h.

One of the hybrids is said to patrol the area, wearing a police-specific high-visibility wrap to remind motorist to drive carefully, while the second car will be used at sporting events, including NRL and NBL in the Illawarra, V8 Supercars at Bathurst and Sydney as well as community events throughout southern NSW

Ariel builds Atom for the UK police.

Ultimate Cop Cars - Police cars from around the world-arielatompl.jpg

Quote:
Part of a safety campaign, the police-spec Ariel Atom PL produces a max. power of 350 PS from its 2.5 litre, supercharged four-cylinder Honda engine, and sprints to 100 kmph from standstill in a mere 2.5 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating police car on the planet. Unfortunately, the Atom PL won’t actually be used to take down errant motorcyclists or engage in high-speed chases in the English countryside

I feel bad for the cops in India. All they get is pesky Innova's and that too without air-conditioning. Imagine sitting in one of those baking ovens in 47 degree Delhi heat.

Innova.

Here in Hyderabad all I see are near to broken Sumo's and Qualis's. If the police here are given Innova then they'll be happy for the upmarket feel.

The Sumo and Qualis rattle and make so much of noise, the need for siren is nil. It'll intimate the thief even before they ate bear to the spot.

Anurag.
