A Harley Davidson edition Ford F-150... what in the world...??!!!

I read an article in today's Deccan Chronicle about the Ford Motor Company coming out with an Harley Davidson Special Edition of its insanely popular F-150 pick-up truck. I agree that both are iconic companies in their own rights, who withstood pretty much anything that was thrown their way just to come out stronger, that have a huge cult following, and all that jazz. But the similarities end there! A F-150 is a F-150 is a F-150. And the same goes for the bike! What exactly are they trying to show the world by coming out with a pick-up with a couple of Harley Logos all over it? For one thing, according to the writer of the article, if a person bought one of these pick-up's and did not have the real deal bike to go with it, he would be labeled a poser. And if he had the bike, what in the world would he need the truck for (keeping in mind the image Harley bikers have the world over... pierced, tattooed, and hate riding anything other than their bike and their babe)?! The only use I would see for it is to transport the bike to and from the service station after a regular night of drinking, fighting and bike crashing!

Coming out with Harley Davidson accessories like key chains, lighters, patches, etc., et. al. is fine, but isnt this so called "alliance" between the two companies taking it a wee bit too far?!

Godspeed.

Alok.

oh! Thats news to me.I feel pretty stupid right now.
But my question still remains... why do it? What do both the companies expect to get from it? Especially if they both catering to two totally different segments of the market.

Godspeed.

They came into existence in roughly around 2001/2. I have personally seen around ten or fifteen, mainly in showrooms here in London. If I'm not mistaken, they feature 20" chrome wheels and two-tone paint jobs.

Ford drops Harley F-150.

The Ford brand has discontinued the high-end Harley-Davidson edition of its F-series pickup.
