Oh! That was long back. They both mended the differences. Chris was invited to review both the 458 and the F12. Chris even bought a black 599 and sold it later stating high running costs. Then, he went and bought a blue FF. :D
I am certain Chris will cover the LaFerrari for Drive. Just like he covered both the P1 and the 918. |
I'm aware of that, although the 458 spider was a customer car, and the F12 I believe was from a Ferrari dealer and not Ferrari themselves, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for sharing. I loved the reviews. I think the P1>La Ferrari though : P
He is allowed to Drive Ferraris again?
I thought after that piece he wrote on Ferrari and how they artificially set cars up for reviewers got him an unofficial permanent ban from Ferrari :o |

Turns out, Chris indeed did drive the Ferrari TheFerrari. Only, he has to wait till 26 May to say anything about it.

Both P1 and LaFerrari are quite at par with each other.
What are the power figures of both the cars? Anyone?
But I feel, the LaFerrari will take the cake in the ride and handling department, given the level of insane handling Ferraris usually have. Even, the MP4-12C couldn't match the 458 in terms of handling.
So, will the story continue here too, or not?

The LaFerrari trumps the Mclaren P1 on paper on almost every spec comparison. From being lighter to being faster.
But after reading HarrisMonkey's column, I am skeptic of the LaFerrari's specs :D
Found Autocar review to to be absolutely crap. Driving car in circles and just going gaga & throwing big words. Evo review was much better.
Another thing, with hyper cars developing more than 900 HP does it even translates onto power at wheels. Previously saw a review by Jeremy Clarkson wherein a Porsche with 500 HP was able to beat a Pagani around a certain circuit. I believe 500 HP is more than enough. These hyper cars just give bragging rights, that my car develops more power than yours, nothing much.
More electronic aid less fun.
Another article to read about "
Jeremy on: having too much power".
La Ferrari = modern day zero size model. Serves the function, aerodynamics over style. So its not beautiful, maybe close to pretty. The F40 and 288 GTO were the beauties.

Although I have admired Jeremy for most of my childhood, I think lately his views are contradicting to what made me a fan in the first place.
I absolutely, whole-heartedly and feverously disagree with Jeremy and his opinion that too much power is a bad thing. While it can be a bad thing if delivered in an uncivilized manner, when the powertrain is tuned well, it can be a blast.
Also worth noting that the Pagani was slower because Hammond was driving it v/s Stig on the Porsche. Something tells me Hammonds lap in a Pagani would be faster than what he would have achieved with Porsche.
Back to LaFerrari, I absolutely adore this thing. Although opinions vary across the world, this is my mind is one of the most beautiful things ever created by man.

Absolutely. The biggest difference is that the Ferrari is not a plug in hybrid. Amd all the required electric power is produced inside the car itself just like a Formula 1 car. The 918 and P1 on the other hand can be driven on all electric mode but has to be plugged into a wall.
It will be MEGA if someone can get all the three together on the same piece of tarmac for a test. EVO guys, come on!
6.3 litre V12 revving to 9250 rpm... do I need to say more? I could not careless what sort of electric motors the Porsche or the McLaren come with.
In line with the FXX and the 599XX, there is also a LaFerrari XX enroute.
One big, big difference between the LaFerrari XX and the LaFerrari might be that the former might be powered by a 1.6 liter V-6 from the F14 T.
This same V-6 might then power the 458 successor.
