Yes i completely agree with you the design gives an impression of what the German brands look like especially the rear with its light's and graphical elements, but its lost that emotional appeal that the previous car had.The Maserati brand even though in today's context may play second fiddle to Ferrari the core element is always been about emotion and a connection with the driver.
The older one was elegant with its volumes and the lines that made it look dynamic and also gave it a beautiful stance. The new car has lost that elegant look with its rather angular line in the front,and whats with the door handles one on the character line on the side and one below it, it seriously looks weird. It may be a new direction for the brand but a change is not always for the better.

Personally prefer the looks of the older version, but these wheels look fab on the car!
