Re: Land Rover Evoque - Sold Out until 2013

This shows that how good looking cars or SUVs change the fortune of the car co.
Jaguar and Land Rover are huge profit making for TATA due to their style.

Generally mass market is attracted by Exterior and Interior designs only, just like the Fluidic designs of Hyundai Verna is doing extremely well while Fiesta is struggling in our market.

Re: Land Rover Evoque - Sold Out until 2013

What's with the Evoque bashing? Lets all take a deep breath and look beyond the fact that it was ostensibly designed by Victoria Beckham. I don't care if it was or wasn't, the fact is the Evoque seems like a pretty impressive package to me.
It ticks the right boxes in terms of acceptable performance, a great place to sit in, some impressive exterior styling, and decent off-road chops.

No, it's not going to set the tarmac on fire. No, it isn't going to take you places that a proper 4x4 is either, but that doesn't detract from the fact that it's a pretty good little car.

And overpriced? Yes, but in India what isn't??
The markup that we're paying in terms of percentage is probably the same that we're paying for most cars. An Accord retails at about $23,000 in the US... that's about 13 lacs, give or take. We pay DOUBLE of that here. The Evoque retails at about $44,000 in the US (about 27L), and we pay double of that here. Big deal. The Evoque markup (as a %age) is no more or no less that anything else.

Overpriced or not it looks absolutely gorgeous. Saw a white one on my way to work this morning.

A delicious crimson Evoque lurking about in Koramangala yesterday.
I love the rakish roofline.

Yes Shankar..Crimson look great on Evoque.

I saw one in Trivandrum and it looked great; even better than all the other boys in the Range Rover gang..i dare say looked smarter than the spot...

Wish the pricing was more realistic than aspirational as it is now..If it had been around 35 L, temptation would have been great to scrap, beg, borrow and steal to Own a Evogue...

Re: Land Rover Evoque - Sold Out until 2013

There seem to have been a flood of cars delivered recently. Plenty to be seen around. Almost all in white. Since they would have allotted cars for india in this fiscal, Any idea what the waiting periods are now for delivery in india ??

Re: Land Rover Evoque - Sold Out until 2013

So, for this problem, JLR have come up with a plan. Recently, they announced that their Halewood plant would now have 24 hour shift. They're planning to recruit 1000 new operators, supervisors and engineers to manufacture the updated Freelander 2 and Evoque.

Halewood Operations Director, Richard Else said, “Our new recruits have worked hard during their assessments and extensive induction training. Many have also worked a number of trial night shifts during July, to ensure we get off to a great start today. I am delighted to welcome our new colleagues as they come on-board to help us meet customer demand for the Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Freelander. Moving production to three shifts and working 24 hours a day will allow us to significantly reduce the time a customer has to wait for their new Range Rover Evoque.”

The Evoque surely has looks to kill all other SUV's available in the market right now. Saw one of crimson colour in Chandigarh and it looks mind-blowingly hot!

Some OE's faced a shortage of colour pigments from Japanese suppliers after the twin disaster's that ravaged the nation in 2011. Was probably a contributing reason for the unusual number of white Evoques produced during the initial phase of launch.

A friend in the UK is expecting delivery of his Evoque next week . The initial delivery commitment was for November but was advanced on account of a cancellation.

I consider either to be very ordinary, and not worth the asking price (in India) at all.
Ordinary? Overpriced in Indian context yes but then which other CBU isnt? But its not an ordinary car for sure.

Exactly, Audi has been minting money making dressed up VWs for decades now and I find calling the x1 a premium suv and its price the biggest joke of them all. To top it all most of the recent german offerings have been bland or ugly.
