"The Name Says It All" Best Automotive Names Thread

There have been many instances in my life when, just hearing the name of certain objects made me crave for it, like, let's say Megan Fox! (),err..sorry, let's say Diablo, just hearing the name makes us think it is something out of this world, something that makes every other name sound too ordinary.

We all know, some automotive brands have played this game really well and have given us some automobiles with names that really makes us crave for it.

the Ducati Diavel is a pretty sick name for a bike!!

and the Hayabusa!! its a really cheeky move by Suzuki to name its bike after the peregrine falcon, the main predator of the (Honda) Blackbird!!

This is obviously where the Italian's get all the bragging rights. After all they can make even bland variants of limp pasta sound orgasmic.
This is also where the Germans lose out big time with their numero-technical car names....they can't seem get past combinations of 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, S, C, M, A and Z, no matter what

Here's some of the names I have been struck by:

(VW) Corrado
Aston Martin Vanquish
(Dodge) Viper
Shelby Cobra
Maserati Sebring
Ferrari (550) Barchetta
Bizzarrini Berlinetta
Scuderia Serenissima
Gillet Vertigo
(Chevy) Corvette Stingray
DeSoto Firedome
(Plymouth) Hemi Barracuda
Mercury Marauder
(GMC) Typhoon
Pontiac Trans-Am
(Ford) Torino Cobra
Boss Mustang
Ferrari Testarossa

Porsche Cayenne - the name has a mystic appeal
Plymouth Prowler - predatory
Dodge Viper - another hunter
Aston Martin Vantage - goosebumps
Cadillac Eldorado - a mystic appeal
Hyundai Veracruz - nomadic
Ashok Leyland Taurus

I also like the name Contessa very much although I hate the car. It is probably the best name given to an Indian car.

Two names which immediately came to mind are Ferrari California and the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. It’s a coincidence that both are Italian

Re: "The Name Says It All" Best Automotive Names Thread

I really love the 288 GTO

Seriously though, gotta hand it to the Americans for some great names that have mass appeal, and match the character of the car too.

Ford Mustang (and the BOSS edition)
Dodge Viper
Dodge Charger
Plymouth Barracuda
Pontiac Firebird
Chevy Corvette
GMC Yukon
Cherokee

Some of the uber-luxury car names are swell. Bentley Flying Spur, Rolls Royce Phantom, Rolls Royce Silver Shadow...very classy and have an air of mystique around them.

Amongst SUVs, my favourite is Land Cruiser because it really defines the car. All time favourite = Jeep (i.e. GP, General Purpose)

The car with the WORST name ever is the Skoda Laura.
