Suzuki Grand Vitara Facelift

Came across this report about the face-lifted GV. Very cosmetic changes and IMO the current one is better looking.

Re: Suzuki Grand Vitara Facelift

On the outside, the subtle facelift brings a newly designed front grille with twin-bars in the shape of wings, a tweaked bumper that gains black trim, black headlamp bezels and new alloy wheel styles, while Suzuki also discarded the spare rear wheel on the tailgate and moved the license plate holder.

The only changes to the interior are the new materials and colors for the seats and door panels.

There's also a new special edition model named "X-Adventure" that comes in a bespoke 'Bison Brown Pearl Metallic' finish, 18-inch wheels, a chrome front grille, privacy glass, a rear spoiler, additional standard equipment such as the sunroof and a suede interior with red accents on the seats, steering wheel and gear shifter.

Suzuki did not say if these changes will be applied on the Grand Vitara sold in markets outside of Japan.

Then Indian Grand Vitara is imported from Japan, right?
With this facelift, I guess MSIL will have to go through the homologation process again, at a huge cost. I don't think MSIL will be interested in launching this in India to sell one or two units every month. So, we might see the end of Grand Vitara in India soon.

Re: Suzuki Grand Vitara Facelift

I don't know what's stopping Maruti Suzuki from bringing the Vitara here, assembling it and giving it with a larger version of the famed Fiat Multi-Jet engine.

But the few Marutis that sported price-tags above 10 lakhs never really did too well. The Kizashi is an rare as a Ferrari and I've seen more Audi Q7s than Vitaras to be honest. Shame, because it's a brilliant car.

Re: Suzuki Grand Vitara Facelift

It is written Escudo in the front. Why?

If this were to make it into India and be a success story then it has to have a diesel engine. I am guessing that they would need the 1.9 or 1.6 MJD

Yes, but dont think the guys will be interested in bringing this to India. Will have to wait and see MSIL's approach.

Re: Suzuki Grand Vitara Facelift

Looks more muscular to me, better than the current one. Even if brought to India GV will not set the sales chart on fire for obvious reasons, and for this reason MSIL has never pushed the GV and Kizashi with any serious effort.

What i wonder is, if they already have a Diesel heart for European markets, what stops them to launch the same one in India (Or better assemble the same one here, to bring the costs down).

Re: Suzuki Grand Vitara Facelift

Is it just me? Looks like a XUV to me!

This along with Kizashi was a bad move with petrol engine options. They could have priced it good atleast.

Re: Suzuki Grand Vitara Facelift

The fact that Hyundai's Santro was redesigned so as to have it's front resemble the earlier model Grand Vitara was more than just a coincidence in the ongoing war between the Koreans and Japanese. Indirectly Hyundai got it's cheapest car to resemble Suzuki's flagship. This sent Suzuki scurrying to the drawing boards to redesign the Vitara and the result was the model before the one we see on these pages.

Let's see wait and see whether Hyundai comes up with another similar move. At best we could have a better looking Santro, another version of the Vitara and a few disgruntled customers ?

Re: Suzuki Grand Vitara Facelift

Is it just me. The front looks little like a TFORT.

A good diesel and a Sub 14 lac price tag(Yes 14 lac) should see it sell for Maruti. XA Alpha could compete around the 10 mark and Vitara around the 14 mark.

Looks like new Vitara will come to India in 2014 and will be positioned against XUV500, Yeti.
