Re: 2013 Honda Accord

Looks cool, except the alloys, the current one has the best alloys which give it the muscular and chunky look.

The front looks aggressive and meaner in this new one, add to that those lovely LED lights. I am not sure though why did they made it smaller?

Any idea when is it slated to hit India? By end of 2013?

Re: 2013 Honda Accord

Looks much better and tighter than the current version. Front 3 qtr reminds me of Nissan/Infiniti.

Re: 2013 Honda Accord

Looks very sculpted for a Accord and looks much better from the rear compared to the last couple of generations. Should sell well. The coupe has better alloys than the sedan.

Re: 2013 Honda Accord

There is no news of when this will be launched in India, with the launch of 2013 Camry, they will be forced to bring this in quickly.

Re: 2013 Honda Accord

I found this more evolution-al than revolution-al in terms of styling. I like the fact that they have made this one a little smaller, the 2008 Accord is the size of a barge and Honda were losing sight of the fact that their cars were called enjoyable to drive by making them bigger and floatier. Anyway, this car looks more rounded than squared in terms of styling.

The new Accord is likely to come with a CVT (which is never good news) to meet more stringent fuel economy targets, so some gains and some losses. For India, they need to shoehorn a diesel into this and the CR-V to have any economic sense for buyers. I have a feeling that the v-6 may go away totally in this iteration of the Accord to be replaced by a turbo direct injected 4 cylinder.

Honda was stunned by Hyundai Sonata, and they could never catch up with Camry off late. Altima was also doing nice.
All the competition was not as large as Accord. Honda thought that in American market, the larger is better would help them against others, but the Accord was not well received in countries like India where it is seen as a rich man's car.

The current Accord is very large by any stretch of imagination. The smaller Accord would have advantage as far as weight is concerned, having a similar positive effect on FE. And best of all, they can gain in Agility, the area where no Accord is famed, atleast in Asian markets.

Its rather smart move from Honda. Just about the perfect size for the segment.

Re: 2013 Honda Accord

Decent effort from Honda. Does not look like something really new, but definitely a better one from the current one. Honda has not done anything substantial after the launch of last gen Civic. I liked the clean lines of this one, compared to the new Camry or the over-styled i45/Sonata.

Re: 2013 Honda Accord

The front end looks good. The aggressive looks have been retained but they are more rounded off and subtle rather than the in-your-face aggression in the previous version. Also the new grille reminds me of the older Accord(which IMO looked best).

The rear profile is very similar to the new Camry, that is going to be launched. The tail lights reminds of the F-10 5 series BMW to some extent.

Do you mean the 2012 Camry which is officially being launched on August 24th 2012?

I thought being seen a "rich man's car" would have given it aspirational value.

Re: 2013 Honda Accord

I like the overall look but the headlights & tail lamps look *inspired* the frot lights seem to resemble the Passat's & rear ones look like from Lexus & Genesis

They have tightened the overall looks.

Here is the Official Page 2013 Accord

Re: 2013 Honda Accord

+ Clean lines.
+ Sharp and Taut looks.
+ Nice head lamp design.
+ New Grille theme at its best in the shape
+ Not too low , Nor too high hence back seat entry exit to be easy.

- The design may Age faster.
- Non radical / Safe design and not something that would stand out unlike the current Accord.

Note :
Side is 90 % in line with the Previous Gen 3 Series.
Rear Lexus / New Camry

Re: 2013 Honda Accord

It still looks like a pretty uninspiring barge. Personally I don't quite like the direction mainstream Japanese car design has been taking over the recent past, except Mazda of course. The rest are just playing safe, maybe it's just the economics that's stopping them. Otherwise cars like the Accord and Camry have been reduced to mere cash cows with a saturated styling limit.
