McLaren just revealed these pictures on their
Facebook page of their first Special Operations undertaking which is to be publicly revealed at the Pebble Beach.
No technical specifications have been revealed yet and I doubt if there would be anything drastically different from the 12C.
EDIT: Just as I posted this, McLaren has given a write-up on the X1 as well.

McLaren Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance: McLaren Special Operations have released the first images of the new McLaren X-1, which will be unveiled later today at the “The Quail” event as part of Pebble Beach 2012. The X-1 is a bespoke project commissioned by an anonymous McLaren enthusiast, and is based on the 12C - sharing the same MonoCell and powertrain.
MSO and McLaren Automotive Design Director Frank Stephenson, were tasked to imbue the 12C with a timeless and classical elegance. Inspired by Concours classics from motoring’s heyday, art deco architecture and some more obscure references including an eggplant and a photo of Audrey Hepburn – The X-1 completely revisits the styling of the 12C to create a unique object d’art.
But the X-1 is not just destined for a showroom – the car is fully operational and retains all of the performance and dynamics of the 12C. To discover the whole story of the X-1, visit the McLaren Automotive media site media.mclaren.com

Major technical components and the interior architecture are similar to the 12C. This is an one-off special that McLaren has built for one of it's anonymous clients, simultaneously kicking off it's McLaren Special Operations(MSO) program which will be responsible for handling such bespoke models.
Hideous is the only thing which comes in my mind.
I've realized that more money doesn't correlate with more taste

That's just wrong in so many, many, MANY ways.
You know something's gone horribly wrong when the press release has the word 'eggplant' in it.
The front is R8/TT-ish with a bit of Noble M600 somewhere and it has tried to blend in a cheeky batmobile design. Why o why do people not understand that batman is a comic character and the batmobile is just a toy and not something you would want to convert your supercar into. This is just so embarrassing:deadhorse.
What they've done here is designed a car that reflects their take on the '70s Batmobile.
And all I've got to say is, the designers at McLaren running out of ideas.
It's one thing to make a car look and feel retro. But this is just terrible.
The fronts appealing, but the sides and that ugly rear! What's the X-2 gonna be like now? :O
It is a bespoke, not production car asked by a enthusiast, mclaren engineers have done whatever the fantasy of the enthusiast was. I feel we should not blame the Mclaren engineers for this.
