re: McLaren P1 Revealed

OK, I admit that McLaren P1 is a heavyweight:

http://cars.uk.msn.com/news/21-reaso...ercar-rulebook

It definitely is path-breaking car & more advanced than its competitors... laying down the route which other will sooner or later cover. However, still a Raging Bull or Prancing Horse pull my heart more than what this one could manage , though I may never own any of these 3 cars in my life.

re: McLaren P1 Revealed

The McLaren P1 was revealed to the public earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show. Limited to just 375 units, the electric-petrol 903bhp supercar is priced from £866,000 and production is limited to just 375 units. First deliveries are scheduled for 22 August.Looks like McLaren will do the same with their P1 as Bugatti has being doing with the Veyron, which has so many limited models we have stopped counting.
McLaren’s test team and their chief test driver Chris Goodwin are testing a limited edition McLaren P1 with the internal code “XP2R” at the Nürburgring and here we have the very first pictures.
The prototype was caught on the Nürburgring and at the petrol station near the track, where it revealed a sticker saying “XP2R prototype vehicle”.
The internal code name XP2R doesn’t reveal the name of the limited edition model or updates we can expect. However we do expect this limited edition model to get an increase in power to around 1000bhp along with some new limited/exclusive options.

Re: McLaren P1 full specs released

Always good to read the words "Electronically Limited". Implies that the car is capable of going even faster
Waiting for a shootout video between the P1 and LaFerrari.

Another lucky journalist spends time with the rare P1 and at the McLaren factory.

Just press a button and KAPOW! At 217mph, it's the nippiest road car in the world - and ROBERT HARDMAN gets taken out for a spin

Re: McLaren P1 Revealed

McLaren P1 confirms sub-seven-minute Nurburgring lap (at an average speed of more than 111mph)

Source : http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/ne...urburgring-lap

The McLaren P1 has acheived its target of a sub-7 minute lap around the Nürburgring, according to its makers, but the makers haven't revealed the exact time of the run.

Notably, the Porsche 918 Spyder set a 6min 57sec lap time in September, which is the fastest in Nürburgring. However, the fastest volume production car on the popular toll way is Nissan GT-R Nismo 2013, with a lap time of 7:08.679 minutes (source - http://www.carpoint.com.au/reviews/2...EwJk5uZT0xNQ..).

Because what happens when you do isn't real. It's from a world of sci-fi and monsters and fear.

We do a shot when we are filming TopGear. The camera car pulls into the inside lane and slows down. I then drop back and floor it, zooming past the camera in a blur and flurry of noise. We've done that with every car we've ever filmed. But you can't do it in a P1 because if you drop back to a point where you are not visible and floor it, you will be doing 217mph when you pass the camera. That's great television, but you wouldn't be able to stop before you reached the traffic in front. So then there'd be an accident, and you'd have to go to prison.

There's another button marked Boost. Push that and, weirdly, you lose around 150bhp. But it hasn't actually gone anywhere. It's all sitting in a big, spare power jar, and if you push a button on the wheel, it all comes back. I can think of no occasion when this would be useful. Except just after your passenger has crapped themselves, you can say: "Huh. You think that's fast? Watch this."
