Re: Top Gear Season 19 - Currently on Air

I felt season 19 was mediocre. Nothing special or remember-able so far. Season 18 was better in my opinion. However, i will hold on to my reservation until they air their double episode special.

Re: Top Gear Season 19 - Currently on Air

Watched all the 5 eps. I would say, 5th is best till now. Good people car and LL was good. Also loved Kia rugby.

However, in this season, many things look scripted. Even some parts of competition looks scripted.

Overall its always great fun to watch TG!

Re: Top Gear Season 19 - Currently on Air

Episode 5 was really well done, RR vs the terramax and the tennis match with cars with stig as the umpire was really well made.

Loved the way they said to Ford on the mustang 2.0 engine with eco boost to be launched in U.K. soon, we dont want it, just keep it

Some accusations on the Huayra's storming lap around the TG circuit!

Re: Top Gear Season 19 - Currently on Air

The last episode was nice. I liked the Range Rover. And the TerraMax was wicked.

Now, eagerly waiting for the Christmas special. The last trip to Africa was EPIC!

Re: Top Gear Season 19 - Currently on Air

So far for this season my favourite interview has been that with Lewis Hamilton as for car reviews for me it's a split between the Range Rover and the one with the Pagani Huayra. None of the challenges were all that great so far : P

Watched Africa special part 1. Coming back to their old glory. Was entertaining especially where they went off road. JC as usual at his best with his car modifications. Part 2 looks even better. Waiting for the next episode.
A definite watch!

Did someone else notice this too? Looks like a snake, probably the one they might have put as part of the script that later was deleted in editing.

Re: Top Gear Season 19 - Currently on Air

TG seems to ever broiled in controversy, & the latest one being the plan to drive a car over Maori tribe's 'spiritual' Ninety Mile Beach, used by tribesmen for food gathering & recreation & special permission is required by outsiders for access to the site.

Five Maori iwi (elders/ people) have custodianship of the beach but the council only approached only one for permission to grant the road closure outside the normal process, apparently hiding the real reason for the same.

Daily Mail article on the same:

TG are, in fact, the bad boys of Automotive journalism (at its worst IMO)..., but still lovable .

Re: Top Gear Season 19 - Currently on Air

Infact I felt of the last 2 seasons this was a bit of an improvement ( if they could ever improve such a show),,,,,I felt they took their time for this series but was worth it ,,,,,,anyways that is only my opinion

Well! that was fun, I presume?

Today's special was a good episode. Although there are a lot of things missing.

Re: Top Gear Season 19 - Currently on Air

Just finished watching part 2. It has few pulsating moments but overall I think they hurried up on few scenes and some were streched. Also first 30mins of Part 2 is a little slow.

Overall still I loved both parts. You will be surprised at the end!

This time we saw many places where camera men are seen and also camera car. They are getting more casual about crew seen on camera.

Also lot of tools/spare from backup cars were used which is very evident but not shown!

Re: Top Gear Season 19 - Currently on Air

I find the chemistry between the guys in this season to be very much off - like a band which is putting out an album just for contractual purposes. They are never all of them on the same page (May just looks completely uninterested, especially in the news sections), and they also look very tired and haggard (Hammond and May).

Re: Top Gear Season 19 - Currently on Air

So, I just started watching Part 1 of the african episode. Did anyone notice the TVS Victor in the background when Clarkson talks about the 528i? Does TVS export their bikes to Africa?

Over the entire season 19, the chemistry between the guys looks fake. Its like as if they have exhausted out their jokes and one liners in the previous seasons, now its got a bit boring. Also, whats this "obsession with sex" that is seen during most of the News segment of TopGear 19?

Also, I feel the pagani episode would have been even better if they had got the Red one which /drive got for their review.

Re: Top Gear Season 19 - Currently on Air

Just got done watching both episodes of the Africa special. Very 'ok' to be honest. Better than some of the other recent specials though ; ).
Oh and I'm sad to see that this was the finale. Very short season according to Wiki. It mentions a Top gear return during the Summer of '13, I wonder what period do the British refer to as Summer. I'm baked here in Mumbai : P
