Re: Ill-treated Supercars from around the world

Is that a real lioness on top of the two cars that we see in the bottom three photos? If it is, it speaks a lot on the strength of the roof.

Re: Ill-treated Supercars from around the world

Of all the cars posted on this thread, I cringed seeing the XJ220 and the 300SL in such abandon. Timeless pieces of art going to such waste. What a shame!!

Re: Ill-treated Supercars from around the world

Quite right you are.

The owners must have had no further use for these machines and decided that they were best served in the manner we now find them in.

Or may be, the cars are orphans.

Noooo.. not the 300 SL

These cars must have had such a great history, it pains to see them rot like this.
What I cant understand is that even if the real owners have abandoned them, why aren't other keen enthusiasts picking them up ??

A few more to be sorry for! Lying in vain are 2 early-1950 vintage Lagondas, a 1950 Alfa Romeo 6C1500, a 1920 Hotchkiss Limo, a rare Iso Grifo Spider sharing space with a 300 SL Gullwing coupe.

I think I would be quite right in saying that this is not what Rolls Royce had in mind when they built the bespoke Phantom!

One more pic of the abandoned Enzo.

Not sure about the authenticity, but News from the web says -- The person who abandoned the car is believed to be a British citizen who leased the Ferrari and then fled Dubai when they couldn't afford the repayments and traffic fines.

Ill-treated Supercars from around the world-267059lastaugustsomeoneabandonedaferrarienzo.jpg

In November 2009, Andy House who owns an exotic car repair shop called Performance Auto Sales, crashed his Veyron into a river in Texas after allegedly being distracted by a low-flying pelican. Naturally, House turned a claim into his insurance company for the totaled supercar to the tune of $2.2 million, which is likely more than the car is actually worth.

The insurance company claims House borrowed $1 million from a friend to buy the car and then bought insurance on it as a collector's vehicle, valuing it at more than $2 million. It says he drove it into the swamp to collect the insurance money.

House says he swerved off the road to avoid hitting a pelican, but the insurance company says there's no pelican in the video (). Plus, it says it went to the scene and found no skid marks, and it further alleges that House "left the vehicle running for over fifteen minutes while it was submerged until it died on its own causing unnecessary damage to the vehicle's engine."

This is a cold blooded murder!! Can't even think of doing this to a 800 forget a Veyron! If you ask me, i would make him sit in the submerged car for the rest of his life .

Insurance firms do work up their rears, when it comes to such humongous claims!

BTW, who shot that video? What perfect timing, huh? Makes me wonder what the real intention was..Need for Money OR free publicity ?
