Hello Mr.RR , why is porsche still selling ? Its a supercar . Heard of MacLaren they too are supercar Manufacturers .in addition they do design engines & chasis for contracts. Another thing is to start a car company the finance required is massive . You need al division of mangement to work in unison . If every one them does the job assigned to them the company will stay green or else .......they will follow others footsteps to grave.

going to small manufacturers

Morgan - they have focussed on one car and one segment, no expansion plans but they turn a healthy profit and monitor supply/demand equation

TVR - Great scary cars but unreliable, painful to own and run and they made nearly every part includingthe AJ6 engine. Coupled with infighting, lax controls - a recipe for disaster

Somewhere I remember reading that the main problem GM is facing is unions and huge cost in employee pensions and such schemes.

Deepu

Devarshi, islero, maxbhp.. Great write ups! I really feel sorry for GM... the chevy V8...

They reportedly had a waiting list of about 4 years for the Plus 8 and 4/4 models. They had to bring it down for the new Aero 8, because they couldnt possibly make impatient Americans wait.

And one more thing. Companies like Caterham survive by having second-hand car dealerships in the backyard of their factory where they sell second-hand Caterhams after refurbishing them.
