I sincerely hope they launch this car in India, not in the way the vRS was launched with the Laura, but in a full blown way, in Euro spec! That would be quite awesome!

New Skoda Octavia vRS revealed

Excerpt:

Offered with high-performance petrol and diesel engines in saloon and estate bodystyles, it is capable of 0-62mph in 6.8sec and a top speed of 154mph in its most potent petrol-powered state.

Set for a global reveal at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next month, the Skoda comes equipped with either a 217bhp 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine from the Volkswagen Golf GTI or a 181bhp 2.0 TDI diesel unit from the Golf GTD. The vRS diesel manages 0-62mph in 8.1sec and a 144mph top speed.

A six-speed manual gearbox is standard for both versions, whereas a six-speed DSG dual-clutch is optional. Fuel economy is said to be improved by 19 per cent over the previous-generation Octavia vRS.

Sports suspension is standard on the front-drive Octavia vRS, with an electronic XDS differential equipped as standard to help improve traction and reduce understeer. A ‘progressive’ steering set-up with a quicker rack also features.

I guess the vanilla variant would look the same minus chromed dual exhaust tips, side skirts and front kit. I hope DRLs are retained : ).

You gotta love this thing! I love the sharp yet subtle chiselling all around the bodywork. This is class. But expect it to have Range Rover competing ground clearance when it comes to India, thus ruining the stance.

Skoda to revv our eyes now.. by launching of new Third gen Octavia vRS, (probably the the fatest one, accompained by good sporty looks) that is in pipeline and expected to hit india later this year, or beginning next year. It will be showcased next month in the Goodwood Festival of Speed

I wonder if they will ever launch this in that state of tune in India. Perhaps we might get at 180 - 190 bhp version. Nevertheless, excellent specs and fuel economy numbers.

I don't think the 2.0 TSI engine will be sold with the Indian RS.
It would be a wise move to do a diesel vRS. But, that would just be uncharacteristic of Skoda.
So, its most probably the 1.8 TSI in the 2014 Oct vRS, then.

That little spoiler on the boot-lid looks like an apology for a wing and it appears to be very out-of-place on such a clean car. On the other hand, who needs Borbet aftermarket wheels when the stock ones look that good?! But I'm not sure if they'd make it to the 'Indian' vRS. They strongly remind me of the wheels on the new Porsche 991 GT3.

I'm divided on the 'integrated' exhausts and would have preferred the standard round pipes. Maybe it just needs to grow on me?

Wow....have a look at the shut lines...so precise. Its gonna be super fast going like a knife through butter. Btw it looks like the M3. All you need to do is to block the middle of the radiator grill to get the twin kidneys ! Just waiting to see it in the flesh.

Sigh.. this is not even remotely as aggressive as the current gen. Looks good none the less, just misses the GRR of the outgoing model.

Agree with you. The bumper is not aggressive enough and its lines are quite similar to the bumpers on the regular models , whereas with outgoing VRS , the bumper really set it apart.

Like the stance of the red one though. Do I see a grey vRS? too dull for a vRS, no?
