Well, there ya have it. The 458, SLS, LP700 and One-77 atleast waited till being on sale to have their first crash, but the Stingray, it seems, was in a hurry to end up on the side of the hill.

The car was a base variant test car and was being driven though the mountain roads Arizona when the car hit a guardrail and bounced back and ended up on the rocks.

Here is a video of the same car spotted with a group of Stingrays days before the crash.

Oooouch!!!
Pains to see such a beauty slapped against the desert rocks. Any idea what speeds it was doing? It does not seem to be as bad if we imagine the speeds the car is capable of doing.

Man, that sucks. Hate to see these beauties banged up so bad.

Sometimes, I wonder how people manage to crash these cars considering they are so advanced technologically with ABS, ESP, blah blah and the works.

Well, there's no such thing as crash proof car's :D

Well, Idiot-proof cars is the right word! It takes real talent to crash some of these exotics!

Dont know what makes you say that.

People who Buy and ride such exotics ofcourse ensure they are good drivers before even buying it. Again, this would be atleast the 5th car in their life.

Next time a Pilot crashes an Aeroplane he becomes an Idiot too

Here's the official explanation, given to Motor Authority by Corvette communications representative Monte Doran:

"We can confirm that during routine testing, a Stingray was involved in a one-car accident.

"During evaluation, the inside tire caught the edge of the pavement during a tight corner, leading to the accident. Thankfully, no one was hurt, the car received only minor damage, and no citations were issued."

We can also confirm that the driver was not GM development driver Jim Mero, as reported elsewhere. Mero, you may remember, was the man who set the Corvette ZR1's 7:22.4 Nordschleife lap time back in 2008.
