The 991 GT3 has been spotted by our friends over at Rennlist! Thankfully, they've redesigned the wing and haven't retained the ugly Aero-Kit. The car is expected to be unveiled pretty soon.

Useful Dope:

• The 991 GT3 will be the first GT car from the Porsche stable to feature an automatic transmission. It will be the PDK, no less! And it will be re-calibrated. But the purists will cry from the roof-tops as it might be the only gearbox option.

• Word on the street is that the engine isn't a derivation of the Mezger lineup and it isn't the same one that does duty in the 991 Carrera (DFI 9A1) models either. It's a brand new mill with a new dry-sump (it's will be the base for the next GT3 Cup engine) that's capable of hitting the limiter at a mind boggling 9k RPMs!

• Huge 400+ mm carbon ceramic brakes (PCCBs) will be the cars anchors. Gulp!

• It may or may not be equipped with Porsche's latest techno wizardry: Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) or Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) The GT3 in the spy-pictures were not equipped with them.

• Usual GT3 bits like 20" center-lock wheels, wider rear body-work from the '4' models, a massive wing and fat 305 section Dunlop MAXX tires at the back are a part of the package. Lovely!

• Expect the car to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show this year

What i dont get(after reading through the entire thread on Rennlist) is why are Centrelocks for the wheels looked upon so negatively.Almost everyone there wished it could come with the normal 5 lugs on the wheel.Why so?

Sad about manual,a Carrera S with no pdcc,ptv,recaro seats looks attractive suddenly.:-)

The all new 991 911 GT3 just broke cover! Though already previewed in the form of the GT3 Cup, the visual go-faster bits on the 997 GT3 have evolved flawlessly into this one, which makes this one a looker, especially in that shade of red with those lime green brake calipers. Though technical details are still scratchy, it is rumored to have the dual-clutch PDK(for the first time on a GT3) mated to the 3.8 flat-six NA motor, which will be upped on power by about 50 hp from the Carerra S.

EDIT: More pics and technical specifications revealed. Power is updated to 496 bhp and with the PDK, it sprints to the ton in just 3.5 seconds. It will lap the 'Ring in under 7.30 seconds, which is stellar performance, considering that in Porsche-conducted tests, the 997 GT2 recorded a 7:32.0 lap time and the Carrera GT 7:28.0 – both with WRC champion Walter Röhrl behind the wheel.

Chris Harris drives the new 991 GT3 and is mighty impressed with the car, especially that delicious EPS with rear wheel steer.

There is no MT option and that irks him, but he can't find faults with what is on the offer.
