The Honda concept S now has the production face to it, and that is, The Honda Jade.

Though Honda introduced much more spice to the concept S, by revealing yet another new model, The Crider, it is now official that, Honda Jade is the production version of what we saw as the Concept C sedan.

The T-BHP discussion on Crider here;

Honda is introducing this, "new-value passenger mover" which will go on sale at first in China, in September.

It was in Beijing Auto Show last year Honda unveiled the Concept S ("Stylish", "Smart", "Surprise") and now in Shanghai they are exhibiting the production version which will be sold under the JADE nameplate.
Looking quite attractive, the new model's styling draws its inspiration "on an image of jade stone with a beautiful exterior look and noble sense of quality within."

It will be produced by Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. and will go on sale first in China.
Honda says the car was conceived to meet the needs of customers born in the 80s who are energetic and pursue their dreams.

Jade is a wonderful concept.

Unfortunately, the crossover car trend is not very popular in India.

I could not stop wondering but if the same car comes in any other colour apart from jade, would it still be called the Honda Jade?lol:

A regular person would simply call this an Estate version of the Civic.

However, leave it to the PR folk to dream up:
- New-value passenger mover
- On an image of jade stone with a beautiful exterior look and noble sense of quality within
- To meet the needs of customers born in the 80s who are energetic and pursue their dreams.

Give it a diesel heart, price it well and there you have some serious competition for the Innova.
Ground clearance might be an issue though.

This can never seat seven. Low stance and those big wheel arches will eat the real estate for third row passengers.
As GTO mentioned, more of estate version. Car like handling and seats five and plenty of luggage.

True… This actually looks like an Estate/MPV spin-off from the current gen Civic. For me, this looks like the template for the next Honda Stream (Civic-based MPV).

Not really. Honda is so good at interior packaging. Check the 7-seater Honda Stream below. I find the small sedan/hatchback based MPVs quite claustrophobic though.

:) Looking forward to more and more global launches in India as well. Till then we can only drool at such concepts

After more than an year of ruling as a Chinese only model, Honda has decided to widen the market for the Jade by launching the new model in Japan. Japan sales will start on Feb 13th.

Interestingly, it is a 6 seater version that got launched in Japan. Civic like exterior and a spacious interior packaging indeed looks tempting. Hope it is made available across JDM. This will be a hybrid only model.

Here are some of the pictures from Paultan.

On sale across Japan from May 28, the all-new Jade RS gets the newly-developed 1.5-liter direct injection VTEC Turbo engine rated at 150PS (148hp) at 5,500 rpm and 203Nm (150lb-ft) of torque between 1,600 and 5,000 rpm
Honda says peak torque is equivalent to that of a 2.4-liter engine in the normal rpm range with the fuel economy of a 1.5-liter unit.

Mated to a new CVT with paddle shifters (7-speed mode), the Jade RS’ engine returns 18 km/L (5.5 l/100 km or 42.3 mpg US) according to Japan’s JC08 standard.
