So it’s the second big exit plan after Ford (or third with GM-Holden’s plan to move out?). One view is that, Australia’s pro-worker policies are not really going well with these big manufacturers. And strong AUD could be another reason.

Yes I do believe with the rising AUD, it is becoming difficult for them to remain competitive in terms of production and manufacturing costs.

Far more sensible for them to invest in bigger production facilities in India, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, China, Indonesia etc.

(Hopefully India by then will have a safe, stable, decisive, decent, pro-development and infrastructure, government instead of all this posturing and tantrums and petulant, sulky behaviour!!)
