The Skoda Snowman SUV is one of the six fresh new models Skoda plans to bring by 2015.

The Snowman SUV will share its genes with the Tiguan as it will be positioned above the Yeti.

It will be based on the MQB platform which is flexible enough to support a 4x4 system, though a FWD will be standard for the base models.

Note: The snowman could also be called the 'Grand Yeti'



Reports suggest that 7 seat configuration is also possible

As the snowman will be positioned above Yeti, it definitely will cost > 20L price tag, which makes it an entrant into competition with the likes of Q3, Tiguan & the upcoming Merc GLA.

The engine options are likely to be 1.4 Tsi & the 2.0L Tdi.

It will be showcased around 2015 as a 2016 model.

It looks perfect. Just the right size for an upgrade when the time comes.
Dont want any 7 seat nonsense though. Quite happy with a 5 seater with luggage space!

Skoda knows how to design desirable vehicles. Looks fantastic.

When this comes and I assume it will, it's going to be pricier than the Yeti (which the market feels is already over-priced). If the Snowman comes in at about 20L ex-showroom, I hope and pray the prices of the Skoda Yeti will fall/reduce.. if that happens, it will be great.

Also looks similar to Audi Q3, no?

Incidentally the Skoda Yeti Elegance is priced in India at an almost exactly equivalent price to its price in UK or Australia. So it actually is not over-priced at all by any stretch. I did the research prior to buying it.

This is one of the few cars which I was able to see, is priced this way, quite unlike the Q3, the X1, the Passat, the Fortuner, the Captiva and a host of other vehicles that one can list out.

The front side looks quite similar to the new Octavia. Could this not be positioned as a replacement to the Yeti, as the Octavia would so probably to the Laura?

Of course, I agree with you and I'm aware of that. I also know the quality Skoda has put in the vehicle to charge what they do (including their profits). Which is why I mentioned that the market feels it is over-priced).

I merely cannot afford it yet (the Elegance 4x4) which is why I am wishing for its price to be reduced.

There seems to be two distinct vehicles in the images. Are both these same gen Snowman ? It sure is an eye catcher. Will be interesting to see the reactions in the Indian market when it lands here.

If all these renders are anything to go by, the Snowman/Grand Yeti could be sized anywhere between Tiguan and a Cayenne, with all sorts of Captivas, Santa Fes and Qasqhais in between. It all looks a bit ambiguous now. I'll wait for the first prototype test vehicles to appear to judge the exact size and the design language.

IMHO the one in the first pic looks just OKish. The second one - the white one - is droool worthy!

On a lighter note, Yeti and Snowman. I guess the next SUV from Skoda would be named Caveman or Neanderthal!
I hope they evolve soon!

The first picture looks to be from the old lot (look at the old styled grille). The subsequent pics look more like the real deal

Their nomenclature department looks to have folks with some weird naming ideas. I love their designs, but loathe the names they come up with (Superb, Laura, Yeti etc.). They even coined the name Lauretta initially for the Rapid

Am I the only one who thinks the first old-looking image is the most characterful of the two (old and new) ? I would feel like going to their design team and shooting them all in the testes if they launched it with that new BORING AUDI-ish q3 styling -___-

PS: if you noticed, the huge round supplementry headlights like that on the current Yeti, make and appearance in the 3rd image and that is the only character lending design element to the bland audi-ish styling

The proportions when viewed from the side make it almost estate-ish, rather than SUV-ish. If they are planning to launch this in India, not sure if 2 Yeti-dimensioned vehicles would necessarily work for Skoda.
