Good that they escaped only with minor injuries

I can understand that happening in India but not being able to see the German sprinter's lights & hear the siren?! Emergency vehicles abroad can wake up a dead man with their sirens & lights, what was the 7'er driver doing?!

Re: Spy Pics: 2016 BMW 7 Series (G11)

The 2016 BMW 7-Series was spotted without any camouflage earlier this year. While the luxury limousine’s launch date has not been officially declared yet, an image of the car’s instrument cluster and steering controls has been caught. The image was reportedly put up on Instagram by a BMW test driver before being taken down soon after.

They have made a small video as well - remote parking , carbon fibre usage and so on..

Key Fob looks futuristic

The criticism this car received from the spy pictures aside, I personally am pretty excited about it. It may not be a huge departure design wise but technology wise they seem to be doing some cool things. The hand gesture control is nice, and so is the remote parking. Now what will really be something is if the car can remote parallel park.

Its also nice to see all round air suspension which should definitely give the ride quality a boost. And also with all the weight saving it should feel more nimble than the present 7.

All in all I can't wait to see it.

They seem to be just playing catch up to the new S. Agreed that there is some pretty interesting tech however as the TG article suggested, most of it is gimmicky and won't be used all that much in everyday practicality. The hand gestures look cool but eventually you will prefer using a knob to turn the volume up and press the green button on your steering to answer a call. The self park is cool but again only those with very tight parking bays at home or office will find it useless. It's sort of like the simple feature on the current German car keys that lets you roll up or down windows by keeping the button pressed- inevitably you always roll up the windows before exiting the car and seldom use this feature.

I have no doubt it will be a superb car but I doubt it will match up to the big step up the s-class w222 has made. At the end I still feel a S is a S!

True !

S class has always been the benchmark in this segment.

A BMW loyalist would normally prefer an 7'er or someone who would've already owned an S & would want a change.

Lets wait & watch now what the G11 has in store for us

BMW have really taken inspiration from the 7 in Tomorrow Never Dies.

Remote park from outside car, gesture controls and more!

I will acknowledge this James Bond & BMW technology only if the new 7 can park itself & comply with gestures in India

Re: Spy Pics: 2016 BMW 7 Series (G11)

Agreed: styling leaves a lot to be desired, both interior and exterior.

Fortunately those things can be changed easily with a nip here and a tuck there. What i like about BMW is that they put their R&D $$$ on the genes of the car and not the fluff. You have to remember BMW is aiming these cars at us enthusiasts ("Performance first") and not our Dad's ("Mercedes toh Mercedes Hai" or "There is Mercedes and then there is the rest"). No offence to older generation, many of whom would go for performance first aswell, as is the case for my own Dad. Also no offence to Merc owners, they just cater to different demographics and preferences.

A driver's car anyone? YES PLS!

Some Detailed views of the body-in-white from around 9:30 to 15:00. Don't miss the slalom.

Things to note: Suspension seems to be spectacular! Eerily quiet cabin.

Cheers

Know how I know you're not speaking from an ownership experience? Reading magazines or BMW's press releases means squat if you don't know what you're talking about. They used to make cars aimed at enthusiasts. Today they're simply making cars for badge whores who won't use more than 20% of a car's capability.

Read about some of BMW's garbage engineering before being an unpaid spokesman for them and their R&D $$$ going on 'genes' and not on fluff. You could start here:
Road&Track's expose on the BMW N63's battery eating manners

Or, own one and and then come back to gripe
