Re: Spy Shots: All-new 2015 Audi Q7 begins testing

^ I kind of like it. The wheel arches could have been a little more beefier though.

The new grille designs of Audi and Lexus are exact opposites.

Re: Spy Shots: All-new 2015 Audi Q7 begins testing

Audi Q7 will be VW Group's 1st plug-in diesel.

The Q7 will debut next year with gasoline and diesel powertrains. A plug-in diesel will come later and it will be sold in Europe and the U.S. - Advantage is with Audi over its rivals as the plug-in is with the diesel powertrain.

India-bound New Q7 SUV Clear Images

Hey fellow BHPians,

Just saw these clear images in the morning on the web. Astounding! I mean, leaked much ahead of its global unveiling. And, undoubtedly, it is the best Q7 over the years. I mean, the enormous stature is gone and it looks much sorted out and composed. Then, I read about its India launch and found out that it may take around a year more before it comes to India, i.e. end of 2015 at this auto website:

Re: Spy Shots: All-new 2015 Audi Q7 begins testing

The first official images of the 2015 Audi Q7 SUV have emerged on the web ahead of its official reveal. Audi has dropped the bulk from the SUV's design and the 2015 Q7 will sport sharper lines. The overall design is still very familiar, but it now features a more aggressive stance, especially with the chiseled nose and shoulder line.

Disappointing, I expected more from the exteriors, this looks more like a facelift than a new generation. However, the interiors are a whole new world.

Don't get why the Germans play it so conservatively when it comes to their SUVs. The new X5 isnt a radical change from the previous and the Q7 feels like a facelift.

Wow so now its Audi with that disgusting chrome from the grille to the headlamps. I don't understand why they are doing that, spoils the front look completely.

The interiors are the different story altogether.

With Audis weight saving this should feel a generation ahead of the older Q7 to drive too.

Re: Spy Shots: All-new 2015 Audi Q7 begins testing

Evolutionary upgrade, was expected from Audi TBH. IDK why, but I feel Audi has been too conservative off late. They brought in radical changes from the Audi A6 C6 to C7, but after that, all the cars have practically looked the same.

The Q7 still looked a little distinctive, but now it looks like a bigger Q5, which is a bigger Q3.

I personally dislike this idea of a family look. This happened twice last week. I thought I had spotted the new C Class, but when I went near, it was the S.

The Germans are doing this specifically, and I honestly don't find the point. I mean, its okay to have family features like a kidney grille, but the same headlights, taillamps and similar silhouettes just makes it so monotonous and uninteresting. Car upgrades should be refreshing and eye catching, not familiar and relatable.

Not so pleasing with all those extra chrome. And somehow this looks more of an MPV - in the lines of the now-discontinued Merc R-Class.

On the changes part, there is something to watch out for but the looks are disappointing. Not expected from Audi.

Expected to reach our shores next year.

Quote:
The new Q7 is 37mm shorter and 15mm narrower while the height has remained just about the same. However, getting smaller has made the all-new Audi Q7 more spacious on the inside where there's an extra 21mm between the first and second rows of seats and an additional 41mm at the front & 23mm at the rear when it comes to headroom.

Inside the new Q7 gets the Audi virtual cockpit seen on the third-gen TT and there's also the latest implementation of the MMI infotainment system with a bigger touchpad. The flagship SUV will be offered with either a Bose sound system with 3D sound or a more expensive Bang & Olufsen Advanced Audio System with 3D sound and 23 speakers packing 1,920 watts of power.

But, let's talk about the engine now. The Q7 will come with the 3.0 TDI rated at 272bhp and 600 Nm which takes it from 0-100 km/h in 6.3 seconds before topping out at 234 km/h. There is also a less powerful 3.0 TDI with 218bhp on offer. Moving on to the petrol engines, the Q7 will receive the 3.0 TFSI with 333bhp but we think it will cater to the European markets and India will get the 2.0 TFSI which is good enough for 252bhp and develops 370Nm of torque.

Of course there is also the e-tron quattro plug-in hybrid model on offer which has a combined output of 373bhp and 700 Nm. This will be Audi's first ever plug-in hybrid diesel and has a fuel consumption of just 1.7 liters / 100 km.

Thanks for Images Tushar.

I find the Interiors much improved and appear to be more up to date now. However, It's still lacking. I feel the interiors should have more 'posh' as it's their flagship SUV.

Also, the exteriors while refined over previous the model they still have retained the similar look overall, as you mentioned. Which means I still find it to look nothing more than an overgrown Station Wagon rather than an actual SUV such as the GL-Class Mercedes or the X5 BMW.

Disappointed.

Re: Spy Shots: All-new 2015 Audi Q7 begins testing

Looks more like a station wagon on steroids rather than a top of the line SUV. IMO, the current-gen has more character and road presence than this one.

Except the interiors I don't see the new Q7 putting up a respectable fight with the Range Rover, Cayenne and GL 350.

The looks are a tad too close to the RS6, but I'd like to see it in the metal to get a better idea of the changes. This one is quite close to crossover territory, but that may be a redeeming quality for some buyers.

Re: Spy Shots: All-new 2015 Audi Q7 begins testing

Will the real Q7 please stand up!?? This thing, whatever it is, looks more like an A6 in wagon form than a Q7. Beats the sole purpose of a Q7, which is on-road presence. It's probably more agile and powerful than the outgoing model but if someone wants power and agility, they should get themselves an S6 or an RS5. They could be left disappointed if they buy this expecting the best of both worlds (sports car performance & off-road ability). Having said that, it could rubbish all our negative views on it and turn out to be an absolute sensation! Could also even be meaner-looking when seen in flesh.

What in the world are Audi designers thinking?? Loved the previous gen Q7 for that 'Dwayne Johnson in a suit' kinda look - huge, brutal yet refined and corporate. The new one doesn't even compare IMHO. Too busy a design. Looks too much like a station-wagon. And what's with all that chrome at the front? Audi used to exude so much grace with a single line than others do with a ton of chrome! Along with BMW and Mercedes, they are sacrificing a car's character in search of this family-look mantra. Another car that has been at the receiving end of this strategy is the A7. When launched, it was menacingly sensual, but the facelift has limited it into an 'A6 sportsback' name tag.

Upgrading up the family tree is no more exciting when the gains are just size and some added tech!
