So the Chandigarh dealer told me that all the launch editions are booked, out of which Delhi has been allotted around 50 cars. They are actually apologising to customers, for not being able to give them a launch edition car. But according to my experience with the ML last year, when I went to test drive the car. They said the launch editions are all booked, but when I went to buy it after a week they offered me a launch edition car. But I didn't want it because they had not white in it. So not everyone who books it, ends up buying it. When they realise a cheaper version will available soon, they back out. I wonder how people are actually buying the S500 launch edition which has petrol V8. I feel the buyers who like to be chauffeur driven will end up cancelling the bookings when they hear the diesel will be on sale soon and would be a lot cheaper.

Guys just sat in the W222 S Class

This happened at one of the Mumbai dealers stockyards, as i had gone there with a friend to inspect his new E Class before delivery.

The W222 S is simply magnificent, a glimpse is enough to fall in love with the design of the car.

Obviously i first opened the rear door & sat in the rear seat, spent a good 5-7 mins inside on the rear seat & was completely floored by the creature comforts offered.

Next up was i sat in the drivers seat, turned the key / ignition ON & woah ! NO NOISE at all. Simply unbelievable how a V8 could have no sound, after the engine settled in, i revved it to 5.5k rpm & ha ha finally was able to hear the beast underneath the hood.

In total there were 3 W222 S Class' at the stockyard.

The funny bit was 2 cars were running on Runflats ( Goodyear ) & had no spare wheel, but one car was running on TUBELESS type (Bridgestone Potenzas), found that weird.

Yes, this information is absolutely correct and adding to this, the launch will take place at a hotel in Delhi, followed by a sit down dinner. The entry is strictly by invite and expected gathering is around 60 people. The invites have been sent. Here is a copy of the invitation.

Nope, not sure about test drive cars or customer cars but definitely not Press cars.

WOW. What an awesome catch, Karan.

This one looks like the fully loaded S500 Launch Editions. 3-4 cars have been allotted to each city for this very exclusive variant.

Calcutta itself has had 5-6 confirmed bookings for the new S Class and 10-15 more people waiting with money in their hands to put it down once they see and the feel the car.

Official Launch of the new S this week in Delhi. It will be followed by smaller launches of the car sometime in the next two weeks at all dealerships all around India.

Deliveries of the Launch Edition starts late January. Calcutta is getting 3 Launch Editions. One white and the other two are Black.

Yeah, its definitely squatting a bit.

My guess is that it is in Comfort mode and the driver just went heavy on the gas pedal (S500!). May or may not be people in the back seat too.

If you see the parked picture, thats the normal stance.

I spotted the new S-class being driven in Aundh, Pune. Some one might be having a test drive, as the B.U. Bhandari showroom (NH-4), Baner, is fairly close. She is a looker for sure.

2014 Mercedes S Class launched at INR 1.57 crores ( ex showroom Delhi).

Mercedes India will only retail the long wheelbase S500 petrol variant of the new S Class. Diesel to be launched later this year

So got a call from the owner of Joshi Autozone (Mercedes Chandigarh) inviting us for the new S class launch in Chandigarh, which is happening on the 12th of this month at JW Marriott. Will post some pictures if I go.
