The spy shots make the profile of the car taller & definitely more SUV like than the current on sale model.

Also can be seen is the hood connects to the grille, and there would be a possible connection line between the headlights & the grille.

Looks like the headlamps would be connected to the kidney grilles like it's on the F30. Though it looks great on the 3er (personal opinion), wonder how it'd look on a SUV/SAV. That said, I'm sure BMW would do a good enough job to give the GLA/Q3/V40 a run for their money reach for the crown for the segment it created.

Given that it's going to be a front wheel drive and a new three-cylinder now under development at BMW, i guess its going to quite different from the current breed E84 which is more related to the 3-Series roots .

Nicely spotted. The X1 will be based on the new UKL1 platform sharing its DNA with the 2014 Mini. This also implies a range of TC'd 3 litre and 4 litre options that will be offered on the Mini will apply to the X1. Likely no more 6 cylinder options.

BMW X1 refresh breaks cover to lauunch in the upcoming Detroit Motor show! India launch expected after the International debut.

Gives the X1 a subtle refresh before the 'new' X1 debuts later in 2015!

Exterior changes include new air intakes in the front bumper. BMW will also offer day time running lamps as standard equipment. Smart looking V- spoke 17-inch rims and a new shade of brown sum up the changes. The changes aren’t restricted to just the exterior and there’s now a choice of interior trims like high gloss black, matt coral red or pearl gloss chrome. The bottom edge of the tailgate gets a chrome finisher.

Perhaps the biggest change to the interior is the incorporation of the latest version of BMW’s connected drive services. This allows users to use a range of mobile services through a SIM card installed in the vehicle. The system has both iPhone and Android connectivity. The engine and chassis remain the same and we will continue to get the X1 20d with a 2.0-litre 184PS diesel and an 8-speed auto that sends power to the rear wheels

I think the renderings are trying to increase the ground clearance and glass house and make it look like a SUV. It still looks like a wagon to me.

IMO it definitely is more SUV'ish than the previous gen
