Modified Vauxhall Victor (aka Contessa Classic) faster than Bugatti Veyron

You’ve all heard of the Contessa Classic a model now discontinued by HM. This car was initially fitted with the old petrol engine from the Ambassador which ensured that it was a failure even before it was launched and later with the 1.8 Isuzu petrol engine which didn’t help things either. This car was the Indian version of the Vauxhall Victor. The link shows a Vauxhall Victor worked upon by the specialist tuner Andy Frost after whose efforts the car is even faster than the Bugatti Veyron. The Red Victor 3 does the Quarter mile in 6.9 seconds @ 220 mph. The Bugatti Veyron does it in 9.9 seconds @ 146 mph. So, you have a Contessa Classic (albeit highly modified) faster than the Veyron !!!

As some might say, nothing is impossible.

re: Modified Vauxhall Victor (aka Contessa Classic) faster than Bugatti Veyron

Yeah! Saw this on Fifth Gear on Discovery Turbo. However, the problem with such high displacement, high horsepower engines is that they need to be taken full care of. Each run requires many engine checks and not to forget, they're great gas guzzlers and can empty a full tank of pure 97 RON gasoline in as low as 10 minutes. In the show, a slight oil leak proved to be highly dangerous to the high-speed runs. But still, at the end of the day, a Contessa is faster than a Veyron!

P.S. This Red Victor 3 holds the current record of fastest quarter mile. The fastest quarter mile with a passenger record wasn't broken, thanks to an oil-leak.

Thanks for sharing,
Keep revvin'

I hope this doesn't cause a surge in the demand for used Contessas!

It's quite an interesting feat, making the car street legal too.

Incidentally I was browsing through the online videos and came across a Bugatti Veyron video on the Indian roads. On speedbreakers which our Indian cars would take at speeds of around 30-40kmph (and where some would just like to launch their vehicles in air for a short distance) the Veyron literally crept up on them, fearing for its life. I pitied the poor driver!
