I still think the old CL is far more elegant and appealing. Much like the old S, but i guess MB have moved away from that look all together.

The Design is good!

The problem Mercs have these days is that their designs are not at all good to be shown in paper. But in reality, these can make any person lose his breath. These cars jist make our hearts beat faster. Talk about being Merc FAN!!

Looks great, it has the front to rear integrity thats so common of all Mercedes cars (unlike the Bangled Beemers) apart from a few exceptions like the Moon-eyed E-class (W210).

This must be exactly the same thing thats been happening to us human beings , Adaptating to surroundings ........but any way they still havent Bangled the car yet but those old continous and elegant lines and curves are surely missing , but I have to say the car has very very imposing presence something that has been MB's all time strength

Have to agree with you, maxbhp. Beautiful or not, it certainly will turn heads and inspire respect wherever it goes. (especially in this white colour)

My love for the CL has just ended. Sigh...the design just lacks the loveliness of the earlier models. The interiors, like the W221 S-Class, are too Bangle-inspired. Yes, Mercedes do make luxurious cars, the new ones being improvements of the BMW designs, but my gosh, where's the originality. The headlights, ugly...the taillights...weak, the large rear window...gawdy. Compared to the last generation CL, this doesn't even come close in terms of an overall handsome look.

The entire side profile, though not entirely ugly, does appear feeble. The window is too large and the car is too low slung. The whole car seems to be taking a bend downwards on the edges, with a big bulge (the side windows) in the middle. The glass area is too large, the body is too little. Gosh, those headlights?!?!

Why don't the people at Mercedes have a more established R&D unit for their top-end vehicles. This car is going to cost a minimum of 80k, and the exterior design looks worse than what I'd buy for 30k. Sad...

Also, in addition to the R&D unit, yes, even if they do have a strong base, why don't they put in more effort? It's true that a new car design should be exciting and controversial but not in a negative mannerism. A lot of people here still have an iffy sense about them, when viewing these pictures. This car, like the pictures suggest, will only look good when viewed from a particular angle or two. Thankfully, it's not as revolutionarily ugly as the E60 5 Series.

I am starting to like the fender flares on these new Mercs. Makes them look tough.
