Toyota unveils the Etios Cross in Brazil

Toyota, the Japanese automaker has now officially revealed the Etios Cross in the Brazilian market. The vehicle will directly compete against the likes of Cross Polo and the Fabia Scout - Priced equivalent to~ 12.5 lakhs.

Such launches have failed miserably in the indian market.

Quote:
The Etios Cross gets a lifted suspension and plastic moulds placed on the wheel arches, side sills and the front bumper, which now looks more aggressive. Moreover, the vehicle features roof bars that can hold 50kg of luggage. Inside the cabin, the Etios Cross comes with new seat fabrics and trim accents.
The Etios Cross is powered by the same 1.5-litre engine that churns out a maximum power output of 96bhp and 139Nm of top torque. The power is transmitted to front wheel via a five-speed manual transmission.

Some pics which I found while Googling.
No words on how this thing looks

IMO head and tail lights and also grill could have been a little squarer in shape.

Maybe it's just me, but I like how it looks. The bumpers and the trim all around make it look substantially bigger than what it really is, almost like a small SUV. Also, the plastic all around should be substantially easier and cheaper to replace and less to bother about in city traffic.

But the price, at 12.5 lakhs is way too much to pay for it.

Ha! Another manufacturer leaping on the tough looking crossover bandwagon!
It really seems to be a good thing to get onto nowadays.

However, won't this also end up like a "Sheep in Wolf's Clothing"? More show than substance?

Shouldnt these cross products have solid build quality inside out?
If yes, how do the cheap Etios/Liva qualify here? Or is it yet another farce by Toyota?

Re: Toyota unveils the Etios Cross in Brazil

Well, I quite like the stance of this crossover. Looks more aggressive than the current Liva. Is there any official word on when it is likely to be available in India?

Now with Liva available in all the top variants in Diesel in India and the new Cross coming, seems Etios is going to stay. A good thing, as it's actually a marvellous car. Specially after the new model has taken care of almost all the complaints like high cabin noise.

To be a success in India, Cross needs to have a proper price point. Like its other siblings which are VFM as well as cheap to maintain.
