Yes this is the all new Passat;







From a design point of view, the new Passat will look more athletic.

This test mule spotted seems to be of a base model as there are no LED headlamps & the fog lights are missing too.

Passat will come with a lot of interesting engines like a 2L TDI with 200 hp is expected.

Okay, looks modersn and understated with almost straight lines, typically VW. But the second picture makes the car look like one with bad proportions. the rear roofline goes down very steeply like in a coupe, but the Boot is long like a sedan.
Though I would reserve my comments as these are just prototypes, I can say that this prototype hasnt impressed me much.

More details on the Passat.

It still doesn't look like the headlights are all-LED, but the taillights are. This prototype was spotted the other day in sunny Spain and shows a well-specced sedan. This and an estate will both be built on Volkswagen's new MQB platform, which helps them reduce costs and shed about 70 to 100 kilograms of weight, depending on the model.

The new Passat will also benefit from the latest EA211 and EA888 family engines. This will include a powerful yet efficient 1.4 TSI with 140 PS and cylinder deactivation. There's also going to be a new type of 2-liter TDI diesel, since this is what most European Passat buyers want.

2015 Volkswagen Passat could spawn coupe and convertible variants.

The sedan and wagon are expected to be introduced in November 2014, while the Alltrack is due for a 2015 launch. A year later, a new Passat CC could be expected. The coupe and convertible are reportedly projects at this point and it remains unclear if they will be green-lighted for production.
Engine options remain unconfirmed but will reportedly include:

• A 1.4-liter TSI with outputs of 125 HP (92 kW) and 150 HP (110 kW)
• A 1.8-liter TSI with 180 HP (132 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque
• A 2.0-liter TSI with outputs of 220 HP (162 kW) and 280 HP (206 kW)
• A 1.6-liter TDI with 116 HP (85 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque
• A 2.0-liter TDI with outputs of 150 HP (110 kW), 184 HP (135 kW) and 231 HP (170 kW)

There could also be a range-topping Passat R with either a 300 HP (220 kW) petrol engine or a 258 HP (189 kW)diesel engine.

The all-new Volkswagen Passat nears public debut, mechanically close to Golf and will have an Hybrid variant.

The mechanical make-up of the new Passat will closely mirror that of the current Golf, with a range of downsized turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, the option of all-wheel drive and a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

It’s thought that the Passat will be one of the first models to get a new 10-speed DSG transmission and a future super-efficient diesel engine that uses 3000bar injection pressures, a good third higher than today’s new diesels. The most economical version of the car is likely to have CO2 emissions as low as 89g/km.

VW sources have revealed that the new car will be among the largest models based on the MQB architecture

The changes to the J2015 etta made it sportier and more dynamic but it's on "lower end of what we can do.The 2016 Passat will be "very strong."

What strikes you right away is a sense of expansiveness. The front end is treated with strong horizontal accents that amplify a sense of width. The two-bar chrome grille stretches from headlamp to headlamp. Elements in the headlamps like the LED lights also add to the sense of width. The China-spec car also wears plenty of chrome to add to the sense of richness. The grille is clamped by the flat hood on one side and a strong bumper on the other.
