800 BHP, twin-engine Skoda Laura AWD. 0 - 100 in 2.5 seconds

So we all know about the reputation of Skoda cars in India. They are built like tanks but are poor in aftersales and service. The problems which some of the people have faced concerning Skoda's servicing issues is a serious matter. Now this is with your regular FWD car with a single engine mounted at the front with VW seals casted on the bottom part of the engine block.
Now check out what this bloke has done. He took 'the more the merrier' cliche to a whole new level. Yes! One engine isn't enough? Well, lets plonk one more which pumps out more horses than the existing! People may call this madness, but i think this is a brilliant idea! *individual opinions may differ*
Cheers!

Quite a build, thanks for sharing.

The way the car shoots forward in the drags (especially the video against the GT-R) is unreal. Must be a heck of a driver too.

One of my ultimate dream projects, since I was a kid. Take a car and double the engine count!!!!

Whoa! How did he do that?!
Especially puzzled on how the transmission works, two different transmissions? If both the engines are matted to a single tranny how the hell does it take all that load?

It definitely looks and sounds great but there has to be a catch. Using two engines in the same vehicle is not as easy as it sounds.

Holy sh*t! This is next level stuff. I wonder how the technicalities go though. I mean it'll need an active torque calibrator or something to keep throttle response matched, and not have one engine dragging another forward. You'll need two gearboxes which may or may not shift at the same time depending on the ratio, and then a differential, two clutches and what not..

'Car & Driver' did a project car, a Honda CRX, in the mid-80's with two engines.

A couple of links referring to said car…

But the GT-R got a poor getaway, the driver was late to react to the lights.
The firewall in Skoda is a joke, quite risky if you ask me.

Cabin must be hotter than hell itself.
Looks like 2 engine on 2 transmissions on 2 axles.
I wonder how this car will handle corners?

Crazy stuff! A Skoda faster than an Aventador sounds so unreal... As someone pointed above, it'd certainly be interesting to know about the transmission this thing uses.

I started following this build three days back. Been thinking of the same thing day and night. This isn't an easy feat to accomplish. Safety and reliability on the other hand is a whole new ball game.
Well, my brain's scrambled right now. Ill leave the rest for the experts to explain and shed some more light on how this setup is put together.
Naught to 62mph in just 2.5 seconds. Woof, Woof

Re: 800 BHP, twin-engine Skoda Laura AWD. 0 - 100 in 2.5 seconds

Thanks a tone for sharing mate!
But seriously guys, how such mods can be achieved? Its got to be double engine, tranny and axles as wildsdi5530 already mentioned. I am really interested in details though. Besides performance on corners, how would such cars perform on slopes (upward and downward both)? Also how traction will be controlled?

Re: 800 BHP, twin-engine Skoda Laura AWD. 0 - 100 in 2.5 seconds

Mercedes Benz had done A38 AMG for Mika Hakkinen & David Coulthard after they won the formula one championship for Mclaren Mercedes. Link: http://www.malaysia-motoring-news.co...z-a38-amg.html

An individual doing this mod without a major technical back-up is remarkable. Hats off to Ghita Silviu!

Re: 800 BHP, twin-engine Skoda Laura AWD. 0 - 100 in 2.5 seconds

Whats really puzzling me is these two engines are in different tunes; 330 bhp at the rear and 460 at the front. If they were in the same state of tune, or driving the same set of wheels then it sort of makes sense on how he'd go about the shifts with these dual clutches or whatever. In this case, the shifting HAS to be in total sync with the other engine, otherwise it would just result in one engine having to push/pull the slower spinning wheels, which would in turn actually make it slower.

Man, i wish this guy was here in the forum to tell us how he did it. My already minuscule brain's been over heating thinking about this
