It carried hippies through the 1960s, hauled surfers in search of killer waves during endless summers and serves as a workhorse across the developing world, but the Volkswagen campervan's epic journey has reached the end of the road.

And yesterday VW lovers in Sao Bernardo do Campo, Brazil held an exhibition to honour their beloved minibuses before the last of their kind come off the assembly line.

Brazil is the last place in the world still producing the vehicle known by aficionados as the ‘bus’, but Volkswagen has said production will end there on December 31.

Re: VW Kombi campervan reaches end of the road in Brazil

Iconic VW's camper set to return - probably as an all electric vehicle.

Volkswagen officials confirmed that the carmaker is considering "electrification and battery power" but there's more than the eco-friendly purpose behind that.
If this proposal is confirmed 100% electric, hardly will see this vehicle being sold in Brazil, unless the current political change.

The style is proposed to have enhanced D columns, square columns B and C and the distance between the speaker and the front of the car must be very short. The characteristics are similar to the concept Bulli 2011.

Volkswagen confirms that the concept will be the inspiration for this minivan, which will have an allusive visual front to T2 model, our known estate of the first generation. Electric propulsion was chosen because it allows the front is low and the internal space in front will look like the veteran, but without compromising security.

In the Bulli concept, the lithium ions were under the floor, ensuring autonomy of good 300 km. The model could go from 0 to 100 km / h in 11.5 seconds, and had maximum of 130 km / h.
