BMW CS Vintage Concept

One keen designer dreams elaborately about a possible re-incarnation of the classic BMW E9 coupes which swooned the motoring world with their elegance back in the '60s. The brainchild of David Obendorfer, the CS Vintage Concept revisits the 2000 C, 2800 CS, 3.0 CS, 3.0 CSi, 3.0 CSL and presents itself as their contemporary counterpart. And how!

This imaginary coupe is said to underpin the 6 Series and packs a sublime retro punch. As a celebratory throwback, the signature kidney grille grows leaner, and the BMW logo on the C-pillar makes a comeback. The classic coupe proportions combined with all the right amounts of retro-futuristic detailing make this design study a winner.

The interiors have been re-imagined as well, replete with BMW's iDrive system, thus giving it modern credentials all around.

Beautiful indeed, love the side profile, rims & the interiors. Also IMO the front needs to mellow down slightly.

And this definitely deserves a Manual transmission

Re: BMW CS Vintage Concept

Even though it's mentioned that this car is based on 6-series, I got a feel that Rolls Royce Ghost platform is being reused here (which itself is based on 7-series platform, no?).

If not the underpinnings, at least the design cues are borrowed from the Rolls Royce, I feel.

Interesting!

What would have been even better is modern interiors in a classic body shell with thoroughly reworked mechanical bits. Something like the Singer's 911. But I don't think the current safety regulations, especially the pedestrian safety will allow any mass manufacturers to follow that route.

Re: BMW CS Vintage Concept

Very interesting, very "different", and very nice!

The squared headlamps remind me more of the 2000CS that preceded the E9. The interiors are to die for!

Could this please be put into production? And when that happens, could I please be able to afford it?
