Toyota Corolla: Global best-selling car of 2013

Toyota Motor Sales, USA has claimed that it has sold 1.22 million units of the Corolla in 2013 globally according to the company's internal data based on individual sales reporting from its distributors. This makes it the best-selling car in the world for the year.

The company has reported a 5% year-on-year increase in sales across 150 countries and regions worldwide. The Corolla was first introduced in 1966. Till February 2014, Toyota has moved 40.72 million units of the car making it the best-selling car of all time.

Polk new vehicle registration data from IHS Automotive, which covers 96% of global new vehicle volumes, indicates that 1,098,524 units of the Corolla were registered globally in 2013, confirming the "best-seller" tag.

The figure includes all the variants of the Corolla such as Aixo, Altis and Corolla EX 4-door saloons. Also included are the 5-door versions of the car like the Fielder and Rumion.

Toyota is expected to launch the new Corolla Altis sedan in India on May 27, 2014.

Not surprising since the car really looks stunning compared to the previous gen. Even interiors looks decent for this class of vehicles. If they price this car right in India it may be a hit.

As expected! Love this generation Corolla and I am sure the Indian market will respond well as they did for the previous generations.

Looks wise it is appealing well with the right design bits inside and out. Waiting for the prices for the car. If they seem with them will start coaxing dad to buy it!
