THE CURRENT MODEL ALSO HAS ITS OWN PRESENCE, BUT THE NEW MODEL IS LIKELY TO BE EQUIPPED WITH A 48V MILD HYBRID SPECIFICATION OF THE DIRECT 4 AND 1.4L TURBO ADOPTED FOR THE BRITISH SWIFT. IN ADDITION TO THIS, A STRAIGHT 3 1L TURBO IS ALSO EXPECTED TO BE SET.

Re: Next-generation Suzuki Vitara caught. EDIT: Now launched in Europe

2022 Vitara to go with a strong HYBRID powertrain. Gets the TOYOTA HYBRID from Suzuki SWACE.

The Suzuki Vitara as a complete hybrid is expected in the spring of next year.

The heart of the new Vitare Hybrid is a 24kW electric motor that not only supports the new 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 75 kW (102bhp) at acceleration, but can also power Vitara on its own. System power is 85 kW (116KS).

The new Suzuki Vitara 1.5 Dualjet Hybrid will be offered in two lines of Comfort and Comfort +equipment, each of which can be combined with front-wheel drive and all wheels. The Comfort version already includes an audio system with a smartphone connection, automatic air conditioning, and LED front lights.

With the new Vitara full hybrid, the SUV model is still available in combination with the classic 1.4-powered 129bhp turbo petrol engine, which is always connected to a mild 48 V hybrid system and a manual gearbox.

This car makes so much sense for Suzuki' biggest market in the whole world, but no point when the boffins at the top are so narrow minded and myopic! Sigh!

With due respect, Maruti/Suzuki did it knowingly. This car is shorter than the S Cross we have here, and inside passenger space is same as the Brezza. If memory serves me right, Vitara is less than 4.2m in length, while wheelbase remains same as the Brezza we have.

Only front part and boot space is a bit different in Vitara compared to Brezza, thus launching this car against likes of Creta/Seltos wouldn't have changed anything.

Shashi

Thanks Shashi, never knew that the Vitara is just 4.2m long.

This has got me thinking. Since Maruti no longer has plans for a diesel and the petrol engine is a 1.5L one, I wonder why they are not utilising this opportunity to make the Brezza a wee bit longer or better still, actually launch the Vitara as the Brezza here. Thanks to the engine, I believe sub 4 m rules no longer apply to the Brezza. This would’ve worked wonders for the rear leg room (unlikely as wheel base remains unchanged?) and boot space.

It will just help in a bit more boot space, rear leg room is exactly same in Vitara as we have in our Brezza.

I for one think the Vitara with that 1.5 petrol engine and a 6AT will do very well over here. And that 6 speed autobox is critical. 4AT is Maruti bureaucrats trolling anyone with average intelligence. Look what we can make you pay for in 2021. hahaha!

Coming back to Vitara, one of the main things it's got over the S-Cross is aesthetic appeal inside out. It's a lot more desirable than the S-Cross will ever be.

And Brezza is just very cramped on the inside with lousy plastics trim. It looks spacious in a brochure or in showroom as the seats - both front and rear are so compromised. Compare it back to back with S-Cross and you'll know what I mean.

0.2 meters doesn't matter much on the road, the stupid small car rule might make one believe otherwise, but it matters on the inside!

And no, the Vitara need not take the fight to Creta or Seltos. It can sit below them and easily do 4~5k per month and that will be very respectful. The Koreans are 10k per month cars, and that volume needs a lot more firepower (powertrain options) and desirability (interior & kit). With Vitara, I don't think Maruti can get there with the severe limitation in vision offered by the current leadership.

But Vitara can be a neat car for many out there - It will be sorted mechanically, should drive and ride better than the Koreans, relatively safe since its not the Heartect, will be fuel efficient and have the right size too - not too big, not too small. Considering all this, I think Vitara can be a solid option here in this market.

So, let's agree to disagree.

Re: Next-generation Suzuki Vitara caught. EDIT: Now launched in Europe

The Suzuki Vitara Hybrid already has prices for Spain.

The Suzuki Vitara debuts range from this month of January and is much more interesting than before.
Quote:
The biggest novelty is the introduction of a standard hybrid mechanics of low consumption that complements the previous light hybrid that remains as an access step.
Quote:
The new 1.5-liter engine has 102 hp and is combined with another electric motor that develops 33 hp, giving a total power of 115 hp. The gearbox chosen for this set is robotized with six speeds while the traction can be simple or total.

Re: Next-generation Suzuki Vitara caught. EDIT: Now launched in Europe

Suzuki Vitara aces the Moose test:

Quote:
This is one stable and nimble small crossover.
Quote:
In the first attempt, the driver doesn’t hit any cones with a speed of 46 miles per hour (74 kilometers per hour). The Vitara remains composed and the driver says it is easy to maintain the direction with the crossover’s direct steering. The electronic stability system also does a great job of slowing down the vehicle and making it even easier to be controlled.

Quote:
In the second attempt, the speed is increased slightly – and while there’s more notable oversteering – the car still manages to cover the test without hitting the cones. This is actually the highest achieved speed – 47 mph (75 kph) – at which the test is passed with flying colors

Re: Next-generation Suzuki Vitara caught. EDIT: Now launched in Europe

Suzuki Vitara gets a facelift.

Quote:
Changes include a redesigned bumper and new wheels
A new 9-inch infotainment system is introduced
Available with the same mild-hybrid and full-hybrid powertrains

Powertrain options remain unchanged, including the mild-hybrid and full-hybrid units. The turbocharged 1.4-liter gasoline engine produces 127 hp (95 kW / 129 PS) with the 48-Volt system adding another 14 hp (10 kW / 14 PS). This configuration is mated to a six-speed manual that can send power to the front or all four wheels (AllGrip Select 4WD).

The other option is the more efficient hybrid setup with a larger 140-volt lithium-ion battery. The naturally aspirated 1.5-liter engine produces 99 hp (74 kW / 101 PS), and the single electric motor adds another 33 hp (24.6 kW / 33.4 PS). The combined output is 115 hp (85 kW / 116 PS) transmitted to the wheels exclusively via a six-speed automatic gearbox.
The 2024 Suzuki Vitara will arrive in European dealerships starting in early summer. Pricing will be announced closer to the market launch.
