I'm guessing the non All-Grip version will have similar power to weight ratio to the Punto Abarth being launched in India and, a higher torque to weight ratio!. If they can launch this engine in the Vitara Brezza(YBA) at say 11 lacs, what could be better for enthusiasts. The handling of the Vitara is said to be similar to the S-Cross, so it can easily handle the power.

Maruti Suzuki's Vitara Brezza is a Compact SUV to rival Ford EcoSport, as such to be cost competitive and hence will mostly stay with the 1.3MJD engine initially and then move on the Suzuki's in-house 1.5 diesel engine.

The New Vitara could be launched as such in India as a top variant in the configuration you are saying but I doubt will be in the price range that you are speculating.

The spy pictures of Maruti YBA compact SUV shot on Indian roads does not look like new Vitara 2015 . It is bit boxy, taller and looks like enlarged swift ! It looks very identical to iv 4 concept. It is learnt that it will be offered with 1.3 L Multijet diesel in front wheel drive mode.

As well as the new engine, the Vitara S also receives styling enhancements inside and out to mark it out as the flagship model in the range. A five-slot chrome front grille debuts, and red accents across the leather and suede interior. The familiar suite of active safety kit is also available

So finally it gets the original grill from the concept version. Adds a lot more character to the car when compared to the normal Evoque inspired design.

The grille looks neat makes the design more aggressive. But I think it might be available only on the Vitara S. An easy fix nevertheless.

Was looking at the GV in Australia and I like the simple and functional interiors. The Alcantara seats look amazing.

The Suzuki Escudo features a watered-down styling of the Suzuki iV-4 concept, that includes a twin-slat grille, a matching appliqué on the front bumper, swept back headlamps, an upward running crease line on the doors, dual-tone exterior colour theme with optional contrast roof, and a pair of angular tail light assembly.

The interior of the Suzuki Escudo gets exterior-colour-coordinated trims, a centre console finished in black, a 7-inch infotainment display with touchscreen, a clock between the central AC vents, and a familiar steering wheel design.

The Japan-spec Vitara is powered by a 1.6-litre VVT petrol engine with DOHC, that produces 117 PS (86 KW) at 6,000 rpm and 151 Nm (15.4 kg-m) at 4,400 rpm. Mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, the Front Wheel Drive variants return a mileage of 18.2 km/l (JC08 cycle) and the Suzuki AllGrip equipped All Wheel Drive models claim 17.4 km/l (JC08 cycle) mileage.

Wow...Another Range Rover lookalike. If it were to launch in India, then we will have the actual Range rover, the GV which is a look-alike and an Evoque mini-lookalike (namely the Elite i20)

The New Vitara S- 1.4 Turbo petrol reviewed by Auto Express. Gets a very positive rating.

The Suzuki Vitara is a very easy car to like. It’s handsome, built to last and represents rather good value for money. If there had been one criticism though, it was a lack of variety, with only a mediocre petrol and a gruff diesel engine to choose from. Now, however, there’s the Vitara S powered by an all-new 138bhp 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine and we’ve driven it for the first time.

The 1.4 turbo may be the smallest engine available in the Vitara – both the diesel and alternative petrol engine are 1.6-litre units – but it’s the most powerful and provides that injection of performance which has been missing.

Are'nt the scoop pics we've been seeing of the Brezza the same as the Vitara S ?

There will be design similarities between the two, but the Brezza will have a more low slung stance. Differences on the exterior are hard to spot now, but one thing you'll notice is the foglamp placement (vertical in the Brezza, horizontal in the Vitara). Apart from that, even the dashboards are different.

Basically, both cars are entirely different. Brezza is not even a chopped Vitara. Vitara is built on the SCross' bigger platform. Brezza sits on a smaller platform - initially rumoured to be built on the Swift platform, and now believed t be on the newer light-weight platform. All the body panels are different. But external design similarities are obvious.
