New Car Show - /DRIVE coming to NBC Sports

Chris Harris, Mike Spinelli and Matt Farah, the hosts of the entertaining YouTube series /Drive inks 10-episode deal with NBC Sports Network.

The debut will run this Saturday, and coincide with NBCSN's coverage of the 2014 Monaco Grand Prix.

The team is going on a Top Gear-like trans-European adventure in a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series, a Ferrari F12 and a McLaren 650S. The three will converge on Monaco, and explore the legendary atmosphere that surrounds the principality when the Formula One World Championship rolls into town.

The trailer

Though the team says the YouTube exploits will continue, I am afraid they are slowly going to pull the plug on their awesome YouTube account. I will definitely miss Chris Harris on Cars. The videos thus far can be found on this thread.

But, this is good news. If the free to air YouTube exploits are anything to go by, this team can deliver big with proper backing. Expect to see great attention to detail and unbiased reviews of great machines. Like a Casino Royale reboot of TG. Can't wait!

TV Listings:

9:30am ET -- /DRIVE on NBC Sports: Monaco
10:30pm ET -- /DRIVE on NBC Sports: Monaco (re-air)

/Drive and Chris Harris tweeted the YouTube video of the first episode. But unfortunately, it looks like it will work only in the US as per the tweets. Video says its private.

Re: New Car Show - /DRIVE coming to NBC Sports

I watched the episode today. I think that footage and photography is decent, but the script and conversations are not the best - certainly not as entertaining as the Top Gear crew.

What I felt good is that a bunch of video journalists who are quite popular on the internet got picked up by a national television network for a show - that is not normal.

+1

I watched it yesterday and it was very underwhelming. It was very short and the editing was very poor. Felt it was moving in patches. And I really wanted to see more of the three cars too. Not a patch on Chris Harris on cars.

Here is the video that was uploaded.

Re: New Car Show - /DRIVE coming to NBC Sports

All three are very capable presenters and individually they make exceptionally good videos especially Chris. But this latest video was a bit boring.

Maybe it is because when you up the game to "Top gear" level you might need better director, editor, crew and other stuff.
