New Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX FQ-360 Launched

Mitsubishi Motors UK has unveiled a new and more powerful version of the iconic Lancer Evolution IX performance car. A development of the FQ-340, the new FQ-360 features a 366 bhp version of Mitsubishi’s 2.0-liter turbo engine. Available only to British customers for now.

Quote:
This car will sprint from 0-60 mph in an estimated 4.1 sec and top 160 mph. These figures underline Lancer Evolution’s reputation as the supercar bargain. By comparison, the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, which costs almost twice as much, takes 0.7 sec longer to reach 60 mph from rest.
Engine:-
Type:Turbocharged Inline-4
Displacement cu in (cc):122 (1997)
Power bhp (kW) at RPM:366(273) / 6887
Torque lb-ft (Nm) at RPM:363(492) / 3200

Performance:-
Acceleration 0-60 mph s:4.1
Top Speed mph (km/h):160 (257)

Hand this car to a good tuner and BOOM!, you've got an insanely fast car on your hands.

I have never been a fan of the EVOs, they are awesome cars for what they are worth but still, the new editions have not been looking any good...lets hope the X will turn out good looking..

Anyhow now a days its stupid for the manucturers to put 0-60 times and any car enthuziast to even worry about them...in performance cars, 0-100, 0-100-0, 0-150 or 50-150 should be given

Anyhow I would like to see this run...it would be quite fast..

Its nice, but its still not what I was expecting, anyhow I wouldnt be the one ever to spend the money on an EVO, I wouldnt spend a little more and get something as quick or spend the exact same and get the similar performance, EVOs never my cup of tea, I always like purpose built sports cars or luxo sports GTs or luxi sports sedans..EVO somehow never fits..

Yes, the car will go BOOM!!! When an aldready on-the-limit four cylinder engine is stretched beyond its limits by a tuner.

I checked out various websites and all have different timings. So lets keep it out of consideration.

http://wheeltalk.fancal.net/?p=476

http://auto.gtspirit.com/2006/02/19/...-nordschleife/

I wouldnt take Acura NSX into consideration as it costs more than $100,000+
and os a semi-supercar.

And GT-R is as good as an evo with Impreza just a hairline behind.

who fixed the limit for power output of a 4-cylinder engine and what is the limit? I have seen 400+ hp tuner cars here in Toronto. A company car making 350+ with a turbo from a 2.0 ltr engine is a small play.

And what were you expecting? Its certainly your choice on the cars but Atleast show me one comparable car except Subaru WRX STi Which is always rated second by almost all the comparo tests which fits under 40000$.

EVO is a purpose built car. It is a softened-up WRC car.

I am sorry if I did not explain properly. What I had in mind was extreme tuning, when, without changing the displacement, they increase power up to crazy levels like 500+ bhp. What I meant was, in such a small capacity engine, it will defenitely reduce the reliability to stretch it so much.

And 400 bhp evo has been launched by mitsu themselves, wasnt there an MR FQ400 sometime back in the EVo VIII series?

I have read in Autocar where a journalist, after long term testing an Evo, doubts how much they could possibly strech the engine to deliver more power, as he did not have good reliability and he experienced some heating problems.

I am not talking up to 500 bhp power outputs, I am talking outputs above that.

If my surmises are wrong, then I am sorry, and apologise for my comment. Experienced people will defenitely know more about this than me.

Is the EVO X really out? I thought it was a concept from Mitsu.
