Spy Pics: 2016 Honda CR-V facelift!

Autos.ca have snapped up spy pics of the Honda CR-V facelift, undergoing testing in the Rocky Mountains.

Changes which can be spotted are - a new two-slat grille, refurbished headlamps, changed lower front section and rectangular fog lamps. The rear seems to have been reworked upon as well, specially the rear bumper section, although distinctive changes cannot be made out.

re: Spy Pics: 2016 Honda CR-V facelift!

Front grille has been changed to match with the new gen accord, a good think.

This generation of CRV scores very bad in looks dept in my opinion. One of the hirrible looking honds thay every made after the first gen of Honda Insight.

These looks seems to be a bit better than the current generation minus those alloys. They are OK but don't gel with the car, like what the New City has on offer, similar design language.

Note to Tyres & Alloys department @ Honda: Please design something better and macho that commands the looks and gells well.

re: Spy Pics: 2016 Honda CR-V facelift!

It looks similar to the current model (the rear especially).
The alloys looks like they are copied from some 70s concept car.
Why this strange design which looks like a table fan's blade?

I would say cost-cutting in R&D. The same alloy design is similar to the "honda" Mobilio. By taking this decision over a cup of tea, Honda would have saved thousands on R&D on a new alloy wheel design.

Re: Spy Pics: 2016 Honda CR-V facelift!

Honda needs to take some cues from the Korean's.

Hyundai is moving ahead in leaps and bounds and Honda is still stuck in that oblongonal-weirdo-egg shape of its SUV. Talk about going backwards.

Re: Spy Pics: 2016 Honda CR-V facelift!

Honda has officially revealed the European spec 2015 CR-V. The new model features a revised front grill, restyled headlamps, along with a new front bumper and skid plate. At the back, the new CR-V features LED tail lamps, with overall design cues remaining the same as the prototype showcased at the Paris motor show in October.

Re: Spy Pics: 2016 Honda CR-V facelift!

Why did they have to re-do the gear shifter? This one looks ugly. They seem to have wanted to do something like the BMW shifter but could not make up their mind. So we have a separate button for Park and the shifter has to be slotted to the left and then up/down - much like a manual shifter.

If you want to go electronic, go all the way electronic where you tap up or down to get into drive/ sport/ reverse etc. Perhaps do away with the shifter all together; replace with a rotary knob and free up some space.

Re: Spy Pics: 2016 Honda CR-V facelift!

what do they (design team) smoke while designing these alloys? Resembles the alloy design of Mobilio RS. It spoils the entire look of the otherwise good looking car.

Re: Spy Pics: 2016 Honda CR-V facelift!

The face-lifted Honda CR-V alongside the existing 2.0-litre i-VTEC petrol unit, is likely to get a new diesel motor as well. Powering the oil burner will be a 1.6-lire i-DTEC unit that is available in two states of tunes - 158bhp and 118bhp. The India-bound model might get the latter one paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission.

I believe the 118bhp version comes with only 6m/t. Its the 158bhp version that has the 9 speed automatic.

Though it is the latter that looks far more suitable if at all the car is priced 25+ lacs, according to all news, India will get the 2wd 118bhp version. with 6 speed manual.

But Honda may still magically conjure up an automatic with the 118bhp version for India.
