The successor to the 1-Series M Coupe has entered production. Like the 1-Series M coupe was in 2011 and 2012, the M2 will be produced at the company's plant in Leipzig, Germany. The car is powered by a 3.0L, M TwinPower Turbo in-line 6-cylinder engine that makes 365 BHP at 6,500 rpm and 465 Nm of torque that goes up to 500 Nm for short stretches under overboost.

Hmm..Sound interesting.

I hate MotorTrend but this guy has to be one of their best auto-journalists yet, fantastic analysis while being impartial and focussing on what the M really is - a drivers car. Also he must be among the few tens of Americans who can drive stick.

Just by the specifications I'd read earlier I knew M2 would be a hit. If you ask me the extra speed simply does not matter, you can have fun even with a 1.6 l-4 turbo petrol inside this car leave alone the 3.0 litre 365hp l-6 Engine which is best left for countries like America & Germany.

Its simple really, the M2 had to be better than M4 or M3 and because :
- Shorter rear overhang, less area to look out for during bends.
- Lesser kerb weight, more agile.
- Newly tuned steering where electric assist cuts off during wheel-return to centre after turns, boosting feedback, of course the M4 has that too.
- Added oil sump to neutralize gravity effect during speed and ensure supply.
- Flap based exhaust system for sound effects.

Or one can also buy a Mini Cooper S for almost similar driving feel at perhaps a much lower price. //M badge carries a huge premium.

Looks they plan to launch this soon , updated on BMW Indian website. I can't find any import data yet , does anyone has more information on this?
