nice, this is the first time i have heard they are shooting for 3 different flavors, thats a real cool thing..@ 57k and 480hp, i must say i was quite accurate in my assuption, either way awesome awesome, but 94k with 530hp better be a 3000lb monster and not some 3300lb machine..i cant wait..though i think the 94k pricetag is excessive but it will be well worth it..awesome that there is competition coming here, the EVO might be competition for the Porsche GT2..
They seem to following porsche's power theme..
GTR 480hp vs 911 Turbo 480hp
GTR V-Spec 510hp vs 911 Turbo X73 510hp
GTR EVO 530hp + weight reduction(probably no AWD, hope so) vs 997 911 GT2 530hp(speculation, but this is what porsche fans are claiming)

You're actually right. It'll be 220lbs lighter than the other two versions. I got this out of autoblog and they read that out of a japanese magazine.
About the porsche GT2 thats correct too 530bhp.
O and btw the porsche in the picture just ahead of the GTR ...they say NISMO guys actually had a bunch of porsche's to test along with the GT-R for comparison sakes.
I think with the EVO version's back, they seem to be going a little over ricy, the front of the EVO is kick @$$, the side profile is awesome too, but the back with that ginormous wing is a little too much, may be another design might help...also dropping the EVO car an inch would help with the stance a little more and aero as well..
But either way its kick @$$ over all..just wish it wastn 94k(actually the japanese price seems to be 85k USD base with loaded version @ about 94k)
id still go for the r34gtr as thats one engine which can me modified for over a 1000hp Nismo COULD NOT get the power up probably to make it street legal.

As far as i know, most of the 700Hp plus RB engines will not go through RWC and ADR norms here due to many little things (and big) that tuners add or deduct to achive such outputs......plus most of these monsters aren't daily drivers...Also...the boost level is always kept low (below 1 bar for normal use)
Nismo is capable of doing this to the new one as well...but the have to keep it under control to go through compliance norms....surprising though as most JDM's were limited to 280PS......
I just hope they offer the option of "MIDNIGHT PURPLE" among others on the new GTR....
BETTER START SAVING...

A press event has never been so well attended, or dangerously overcrowded. But we got to the front in time to watch in car footage of a GT-R lapping the Nurburgring in 7:38.5, then out came Carlos to claim that his new baby is the best that Nissan has ever produced – and we're inclined to agree. Unsurprisingly the show car is silver, and, well looks pretty much like it did in the spy shots, but the shock was that Mr. Ghosn committed to Nissan fielding GT-Rs in next year's Super GT Championship. Could this be the start of another R32-like Godzilla race track domination? Deliveries start in next month, and to the rest of the world by the end of 2008. Check out the gallery, we'll have tech specs up soon.

Why did Nissan ever stop making the R34. It is a phenomenal car. |
coz it wasnt selling well enough to make it profitable. There are so many such cars which are really great, but did not generate the moolah for the manufacturer. Some similar examples are 3000GT, Supra, Prelude.

The 911 Tubos are more than twice as expensive the GTR base and V-Spec. Cant really compare them. Ideal comparision would only be the GTR evo with the turbo. Even here the Turbo is almost 35k more.
But got to agree the power schemes are bang on in line with the Porsche.

but will it still be a nissan skyline other than the shell.
also it looks like its going behind the vette keeping the old numbers but the vette is also coming with the newer vette which would be much more powerful than the existing vette.
when is it gonna be launched , is is really 2009 as mentioned in the link posted by R32_GTR (who had a R32_GTR) and is a little incomplete now without her.
