I dont understand. Isnt the 6 series cabrio a good enough rival for the SLK?? Why go to the trouble of producing another seperate convertible GT lineup???

This sounds almost as pointless a venture as the 1 series.

The 6 series is inbetween the SL and the CLK.

The R230 is virtually flawless, esp. in the 500, 55 and 65 forms. It'll be tough stuff to beat...

Don't you mean the SL???

Looks like they are planning a "5 and half series - 5.5"

Not required...get the 6 series anyways......make a hardtop convertible if they must....

SL and 6 series? 6 series is 4 seater... they are looking to cash in the 2 seater SL's growing market

I agree, it should be a great car and if they make it a hard top convertible ,man would that be so cool...I had originally heard they were planning on making a 4 series based on the 3 coupe with a hard top to compete with SLK, but i guess thats a little less profitable than the SL competitor, but I cant imagine it being in M and CSL form..... if its really an 8 series, then an 850, 860 M8 and M8 CSL with 85k, 105k, 125k and 150k base msrp...but would still be cheaper than the SLs which are going way over priced..
