Re: The 2015 Suzuki Alto JDM (Japanese Market)

Thats such a wonderful design! has the possibility of working in india on cost front due to such flat surfaces. We need some quirk in the hatchbacks and this is perfect. I wish they could launch this with the 1.2 K series as a one off production. Sigh.

Please MSIL, do not bring this to India. Don't want to add to the population of ugly hatches in name of 'contemporary styling' and 'latest design trends'.

Re: The 2015 Suzuki Alto JDM (Japanese Market)

Hideous! I think they went overboard with the 'retro' thing. I can see some resemblance with the Jimny.

But for some reason, it reminds me most of the Bajaj RE car.

Re: The 2015 Suzuki Alto JDM (Japanese Market)

I wish this was a bit broader like the Swift, it would look even more amazing. The retro theme is a 'like it or hate it' kind of design. I loved it, the turbo petrol should come in 2 wheel drive and a 6 speed manual transmission, what a bullet that will be.

Re: The 2015 Suzuki Alto JDM (Japanese Market)

This car invoked exactly the same feelings when I first saw the original 800 SS for the first time. To me, car looks very good and it is good looking from all the angles except the front.
With regards to the plain jane look, we can say that this car is at other extreme of the Fluidic Eon in entry level hatchbacks.
I still dream to own a 800 SS someday but if this car is launched, I won't mind owning this in place of 800 SS.

Re: The 2015 Suzuki Alto JDM (Japanese Market)

Not sure if the placement of the rear light cluster so low is such a good idea.

Suzuki really needs to invest in a good design ( in an aesthetic & not engineering sense ) team

Supposed sketch of Maruti's new entry-level hatchback?

Maruti's has been working on an array of new small cars , now the sketch of the new-generation Maruti Suzuki's small car is leaked through a sketch.

As seen it is having the retro look and the same is seen in the revealed Ignis too and seem to be Suzuki's new design language for their small cars!

The 2015 Suzuki Alto JDM (Japanese Market)-capture.jpg

The new Alto Kei that was revealed in Japan also has retro styling and was spotted testing in India. It can be assumed the new hatchback for India will be this vehicle and have will design elements and power train of the Alto Kei.

Expect this car to be spacious and feature rich inline with the current trend of Maruti Suzuki and built upon a new platform which will be lighter and yet more rigid and with class leading fuel economy.

Quote:
The new Maruti small car will be powered by a 660cc petrol engine and even except the 660cc turbo to be launched
Quote:
The AMT version will also be launched on the Alto with the 660cc turbo engine. The power ratings of this engine will be about 52bhp (660cc) and 70bhp (660cc turbo) and it will come with a five-speed manual transmission.
Quote:
The new Maruti hatchback will be made for Indian market and the company is also looking at exporting it to other developing markets. This could be the new-generation Alto and there will also be a crossover that will be derived on this platform.

re: Supposed sketch of Maruti's new entry-level hatchback?

Another small hatchback!

Maruti is looking for an onslaught by filling every segment of the hatchback space. What I think is that Maruti is not concerned towards product overlapping till the time customers stay under the same roof.

Retro styling is not bad as even Mini and Beetle follow the same trend. Moreover this is just a rendered image and when the real pictures follow they'll be able to give a better picture of how the end product looks.

And this the time it is from Maruti's stable and is not priced atrociously, it'll surely find buyers in the market.

The car in the image is the JDM Alto Lapin:

I don't know if the retro look would work in the A segment, but the 660cc 3-pot petrol engine should be a fuel efficiency champ! The turbo-charged version may even offer decently peppy performance.
