The new facelift Mercedes A-Class was caught testing in Sweden earlier this week. Apparently, the word "facelift" may be inappropriate. From the pictures, it looks like there is minimal changes to the exteriors than the current one. Except for minor changes to the tail lamps and the bumpers, this looks exactly like the current one that has been in the market for 2 years.

Since the B-Class engines were not changed in the facelift, the A-Class facelift may not have any changes either.

Mercedes-Benz has been working on a facelift for its entry level hatchback – the A-Class. While camouflaged test mules have been spotted on more than one occasion, a fresh image has surfaced and it looks like the car has just been spied sans camouflage.

Mercedes has taken the wraps off the 2016 A-Class facelift. The car will make it's public debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September 2015, and will be available in showrooms from the end of that month.

It is expected to be launched in India sometime in 2016.

Up front, the Mercedes A Class features optional LED headlamps with new LED DRLs flanking the familiar diamond grille.

While the side profile remains virtually unchanged, the rear gets a set of taillamps with updated LED clusters, and a dual exhaust system.

Inside, the only changes seen are the new multifunction 3-spoke steering wheel designs, a re-designed instrument cluster, and a larger 8-inch free-standing COMAND infotainment display. The new Mercedes A Class is also the first model to offer support for Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink smartphone connectivity.

The facelift also debuts Mercedes’ new naming nomenclature for diesel engines, which drops the “CDI” branding for a simple “d”. It also introduces a new fuel efficient variant called the A 180 d SE, which produces the same 109 hp and 260 Nm of torque, but returns an improved fuel economy of 28.5 km/L (NEDC cycle).

The A 220 d and A 250 AMG Line now delivers 177 hp/350 Nm and 218 hp/350 Nm of torque, respectively, which represents a 7 hp increase in both models. The A45 AMG also gets a power bump to 381 hp and 475 Nm, making it the most powerful hatchback in the world. This enables the A45 to hit 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, 0.4 seconds lower than the outgoing model.

Power is sent through either a 6-speed manual or a 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission.

Hard to spot the differences between this and the older car. Is the 1.5 diesel the Renault K9K? I doubt it will find it's way into the Indian A-Class.

Mercedes-Benz has revealed full details of the facelifted 2016 A-Class, ahead of it's world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The compact hatchback has received a new entry-level model, the A 160 with 102PS, while the most fuel-efficient version is the 109PS A 180 d BlueEfficiency Edition which returns 3.5l/100km (67.2mpg US / 80.7mpg UK) and CO2 emissions of 89 g/km.

The A 220 d now has a slightly higher output of 177PS (an increase of 7PS), while the sport models A 250 Sport and A 250 Sport 4Matic now deliver 218PS instead 211PS previously.

Another new addition is the special “Motorsport Edition” model which sport styling tweaks inspired by Mercedes’ Formula 1 cars. The range-topping Mercedes-AMG A 45 4Matic also benefits from an update, with the peak output increased to 381PS. Including the A 45 4Matic, the revised model range consists of 17 versions.

The facelifted A-Class range also comes with the Dynamic Select driving program selector, a new chassis with adaptive damping and optional LED headlamps.

Please see attached brochure about the new A-class. This was emailed to me by my dealer in early August (even though the prices are for Australia, the equipment and model range is similar to the one available in the European market).
