What keeps amazing me, is how people take offense what JC does or say. How can anybody take anything he says serious. I enjoy the show immensely, but I dont take any of it seriously. He said about the Dutch, all they do is watch porn and smoke pot. I don't think the Dutch prime minister, or anybody for that matter, picked up the phone, called the BBC and demanded an apology.

I think I have said this before, but by taking JC or TG seriously way to much importance is given to it. I can think of lots of important stuff that would upset me, or I might even take offense to. But not TG or JC, because at the end of the day it is just not relevant or important. Even their impact on car sales is less then nothing as has been proven many times over. By themselves I might add. These guys dont take themselves seriously so why would anybody else do?

Re: Jeremy Clarkson suspended for allegedly punching a producer

Suspension is not a punishment. Suspension is effected pending something to happen, like an inquiry.

In other words, if an employee has committed a serious misconduct, then in such circumstances, he is suspended pending disciplinary action which may lead to termination.

So, the employer has a right to suspend in critical circumstances, till a decision to take a final action is taken.

I am very much sad at this. Signed the online petition and even made a complaint at BBC.

Re: Jeremy Clarkson suspended for allegedly punching a producer

It's seems Jeremy Clarkson himself reported the incident to BBC executives.

Former Stig says Top Gear will be doomed without Jeremy.

Re: Jeremy Clarkson suspended for allegedly punching a producer

Personal opinion is BBC has a right to take action. Punching someone is not done. But firing someone is not too. It was a misunderstanding between two people and can be dealt more maturely.

Is there politics being played: Yes

Will top gear continue to be popular without him: No

Its ridiculous when you hire him knowing he is a knob and a kiss away from controversy and when it does happen you go all holier than thou.

Some months back Rajdeep Sardesai punched a person on his face. Did anybody complain and did he get fired? No he just got the 9pm slot on the channel and went on to sell more books.

I signed the petition and hope that top gear completes this season and all the three just move to another channel.

Worst case an internet based show on youtube will do.

Re: Jeremy Clarkson suspended for allegedly punching a producer

Jezza and his sense of humour!! He just changed his Twitter bio to "Probably a presenter on the BBC motoring show top gear".
All said and done I don't think the show will be the same without Jeremy and I bet Richard and James wouldn't sign the contract for a further 3 years without Jeremy in the picture. Basically the suspension should/will be lifted !!! But am really sad that we might not get to watch the rest three episodes!!

Re: Top Gear UK, Season 22 - Starts on 27th Dec, 2014

If they are actually going to do it, why not telecast the three remaining episodes and get it done with. How is not telecasting the last 3 episodes going to help anyone?

I don't think he wants to do the show anymore. I was watching season10 yesterday, the veyron vs Eurofighter episode, and the level of enthusiasm on his face is remarkable, compared to the previous few seasons. I think he wants to retire, at least from the show.
